The Way the Sun Rises

Chapter two

Val woke up to the smell of smoke. she immediately jumped out of bed and ran down stairs. She looked everywhere for the fire, but their was none. "Just a dream" she told herself. The wind came in through the open window, cooling the sweat that had settled on her exposed skin. She walked over to the window and closed it, catching the faint scent of smoke. She turned around to see a boy of about eight sitting on her sofa. He had a lighter in his hand, flicking it on and off. His red eyes were huge, and his black hair was in his face. He smiled up at Val, his white fangs showing.

"Hello Valerie. How are you?" He Purred.

"I am fine Rayn. Why are you here?" Val new the dangers of him being here. Vampires and Wolves were on the verge of another great war. A war was Valerie didnt want to live through again.

"I can't just drop in to say hi to my favorite wolf?" Rayn still had not looked up at her.

"No."

"Well I came to warn you, Thom is on the loose, and he wants blood. Your blood. War is close keep your eyes open." With that said Rayn set a bag on her coffee table, and left. Val took the bag and went down to the basement, opened her safe, and placed the bag in it. Val went back up stairs and fell asleep on her couch, watching an episode of scooby doo.

Dark Wood pack house

"Alpha" Mika said.

"Yes"

"We are going to the Bright Moon pack tomorrow?" The Alpha sighed, and put the papers down on his desk. The office was simple and neat. Grey dominated the room. Their was no decor, and the only piece of furniture was a desk. Their was no personal items such as pictures of family, or trinkets to pass the time with.

"Yes Mika. Would you like to come? I need Beta Micheal here, but as my third will you accompany me?" The Alpha new her answer but he needed to ask anyway.

"Ja, of course. Did you even need to ask?" He nodded to her and dismissed her. Now all the Alpha could do was wait. Tomorrow he would gain an Allie. Soon war would hit and he was in the middle in it.

Bright Moon Pack House 10:00 am

Val stood at the back of the crowd. They were waiting to hear the Alpha's news. Finally Alpha Bane and his mate, Darlene, stepped out onto the make shift stage. "Tomorrow the Alpha of the Dark Wood pack will be coming to our pack. We will treat them with respect. Is that understood?" All the wolves nodded and muttered their agreements, then they were dismissed.

It was no secret that the Dark Wood pack is the biggest in the world, with over 600 members, and more with the diplomats they send around the world. It is also not a secret that the Alpha, Tanner Blake is cruel and holds his pack in place with fear, not respect. She heard Natalia run up behind her, Her green eyes were huge.

"Omygod whatifmymateishere. Omygod weregoingtomeetthealphaof-" Val cut her off.

"Nat calm down. Please speak slowly."

" Okay, Okay, I said, O my god what if my mate is here. O my god were going to meet the alpha of the dark moon pack." Val smiled at her best friend and nodded. She new that if Natalia's was with the alpha, he wouldn't be able to resist her long. All the male's in pack were after her. Her eyes were a beautiful Blue, and her hair the blonde many women strive for. Natalia was the total opposite of Valerie, who had green eyes and auburn hair, and unlike Natalia freckles dusted her nose and cheekbones.

"I know" Val squealed. " Another pack hadn't visited for many years."

"What if he is your mate?" Nat asked. Val's face fell.

"I would never be a mate to a man as cold and cruel as he. The fates wouldn't do that, would they?" Nat shrugged.

"All I know is we need the perfect outfit. Come on." with that Natalia pulled Valerie towards their houses.
