Bianca
"Please be silent for the gatello dance to begin." Someone repeated on the mic for the third time as everyone continued to ignore him. Some movement was heard on the mic before a female shouted the message, making the hall room finally grow quiet.
"You may start the dance." The man repeated and the music turned on.
I steadily put my hand on Matteo's shoulder and he placed his palm on my waist. We entwined our other hands together and started dancing.
One step forward, two steps back, and five to the side.
We kept swaying around as the music grew louder and I caught Gabriella's face as Matteo twirled me. She gave me a smile, but nothing more. Nonna sat near her, her eyes narrowed at me as if she was warning me not to trip. Claire put a hand in front of Nonna's eyes, and gave me a thumbs up.
"Do you always look everywhere but the person you're dancing with?"
Matteo caught me off guard, and I turned my head his way startled for a second. Narrowing my eyes at him, only little enough for him to notice, I said. "When you're dancing with a person like you, anyone would look elsewhere."
He gave me a scoff and a cold smile, before he spinned me around and now I faced everyone else, as Matteo held my waist from behind now. I could feel his breath against my ear, and my heart rate increased at his proximity while so many people had their eyes on us.
"Careful who you're insulting. I'm not one to forgive easily." His lips brushed the corner of my ear and I suppressed a shiver, before he turned me around again and I recollected myself.
"How many times have I told you not to threaten me?" I asked with a warning.
"Never." He said, and pulled me a little closer. Close enough I felt the pull but not enough for anyone to notice or for me to be able to say something to him about it.
I rolled my eyes at him, and decided it was best I ignored him for the rest of the dance.
"How are your feet?" He asked.
"Do you like your ring?" I asked. I don't know what struck me to ask that, especially when I decided I'd say nothing.
"It's like any other engagement ring. Now you." He said.
"My feet are fine." I said.
I caught Gabriella's eyes again and she seemed to give me a look I couldn't read. I almost thought it wasn't for me. I looked back at Matteo's arrogant face, and it was important for no one to find out about my feet being injured. Jax wouldn't say a word unless I told him to, but Matteo...he was a problem.
I'd deal with Laila myself when I had the time, but if people were to find out about Laila's little prank, they would start targeting mama's family and her, saying god knows what about mama. Papa had already warned mama that he wouldn't be the nicest were the Gatello name to be tarnished because of her.
"About my feet. Don't say a word to anyone about this." Telling him not to say anything was risky, because now he knew how important it is.
"And why would I listen to you?" He asked, he eye brow raising the slightest, with that challenging look in his eyes that frustrated me.
"You're not telling anyone Vensi." I shot at him, almost slipping up my pleasant expression, as I tried to pass him a glare.
He gripped my waist with more force and pressed his thumb between the layers of deep blue I was wearing. "I don't take orders from a girl?" He said, knowing he'd hit me.
