I think I'm going to edit this book and add more spice into it but I think I'll do it after this series ends.

There WILL be angst but there's a nice ending in the end(I think)

I lay in Camilo's bed and drew in my book.

'I should make this part a little bit darker... this part doesn't look proportionally correct, let me just...'

I felt the bed sink and an arm around my waist.

"Whatcha' drawing there?" Camilo whispered in my ear making me yelp.

"D-Don't scare me like that!" I smacked him playfully.

He cackled, "I'm sorry, mi amor~! You look so cute when your focused, don't you know that?" He propped his chin on the palm of his hand. "But seriously, what are you drawing?" He squinted his eyes, trying to get a good look of it.

"I'm just letting my imagination take charge, I don't even know what I'm drawing too." I shrugged, placing my pencil down. Putting my book and pencil aside, I lay on my back, sighing. 'What happened to that puta? It feels like he disappeared...'

"Is something wrong, mi amor?"

I shook my head. "No, I'm just thinking about some stuff."

He tilted his head. "Like what?"

Shrugging, I continued to sketch on my sketchbook.

"Where the fuck is he?!"

"What was that?" I questioned, getting up only to be pushed back down.

"Stay here." Camilo ordered, opening the door and heading downstairs.

I continued drawing on my sketchbook.

"He fucking scammed me of my money! Give me my goddam wife right now!"

My heart stopped hearing that.

"Maria's getting married!"

"Why are you being such a brat? The Diegos paid me to marry off Maria! She'll be sent to the city, think of it, isn't that wonderful?"

'Shit!'

I slammed open the door, rushing down the halls. My heart raced as my stomach churned in anxiety, 'I forgot about that! Oh no... oh no...'

I ran to Dolores' room first, pushing it open. "Maria!" I yelled, finding her curled up on her bed, trembling in fear as Mirabel and Dolores comforted her, their voices quivering slightly as they spoke. "Y-Y/N..."

I heaved a sigh of relief, yet I knew it wasn't over yet. That guy that Papa, or puta, married her off to is fighting to claim her. My mind was filled with many thoughts, as if my brain was actively tuning out the noise, 'what should I do?! I'm her brother... I should've protected her...' I bit my lip, my breathing growing heavier and heavier before a soft voice snapped me out of my trance.

"Mi Amor..."

I slowly turned to Camilo, feeling tears brimming at my eyes. "Camilo..."

He sighed, placing a hand on my shoulder, pushing me into Dolores' room gently, shutting the door behind him. "I know what you're thinking... but the adults are handling it. Breathe, baby..."

"I don't know exactly what you two went through back with your papa, and I may not be able to understand, but that doesn't mean I won't try and put myself in your shoes. I'm an older brother myself, Mirabel is an older sister, Dolores is too. We understand the feeling of wanting to protect your little sibling and growing distressed because of it. We get it." He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me close. "Calm down... if you aren't calm, it'll be hard to think what to do in this situation to protect your sister, the best move in this situation."

I bit my lip, nodding. 'Camilo was right, I need to stay calm for the sake of my sister!'

I took deep breaths and deep exhales, thinking of a plan before I gasped. "I could crossdress and pretend to be a girl! He will think that I'm Maria and Maria won't get sold off—Agh!" I yelped in pain as I was suddenly smacked in the head by none other than Camilo. "You are not getting married off in Maria's place. I love you Mi amor and as your lover, I do not allow it!"

I sighed, leaning my head against the wall. 'What could I do...?'

"Maria..." I called out, noticing her hands covering her ears to drown out the noises. I approached her, Dolores' moving aside for me to sit near my sister. "It's gonna be okay... i'll figure out a way." I bit my lip, staring at her quivering frame.

But what could I do? I was only a teen... if I were to go downstairs everything would go haywire! That man would recognize me as the son of that puta. Everything would make a turn for the worse...

"Camilo..." I called out, my lips quivering slightly. "What was going on downstairs? What did you see?"

He leaned against the wall, arms crossed as he spoke. "There was a man, i'm guessing a relative of Mr Diego. He was yelling at the adults, yelling for his wife, yelling that he lost a good sum of money because of your papa..."

I sighed. "Have the adults thought of any solution?"

He shook his head. "They're trying to calm him down... he was close to breaking our table with how rough he was slamming his fists against it."

'Was I this pathetic?' I questioned myself, 'I couldn't think of a single solution to the problem... what could I do, as an older brother, to protect my sister? Was there any solution? It was either Maria, or his money. And the money that he paid papa was most likely spent on drinks and alcohol at that stupid bar down the street.'

"Y/N..." Mirabel placed a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, I know that it gets overwhelming at times, especially being an older sibling." Dolores' turned to me, nodding in agreement at Mirabel's words. "Just focus on your sister, she's the one who's going through most of it."

Hearing their words, I gasped. 'Right! I should've been caring for Maria! Why was I so focused on solutions when I should be caring for my sister first?!'

"Maria... remember that tree behind our house that I'd always go to?" I placed a hand on her back, watching as she pulled the blanket down, her eyes meeting mine. She had mama's eyes... I could see mama in her.

"And remember when we'd run around it? When I'd chase you around that tree? Or when we'd climb up it? And I nearly fell off it?" I let out a soft chuckle as I spoke. I could see a twinkle in her eyes, and I knew that it was working.

"But if it wasn't for me taking your hand before you slipped, you would've fallen off." She stifled her laughter as she spoke.

"Yeah, and when that tree began bearing fruit and we tried eating it, only to get food poisoning for 2 whole days?"

"The toilet stank so bad!" We laughed. "And when it nearly clogged because of that?"

"Not my fault you take such huge shits!"

"You're acting like you don't! Don't lie, Maria!"

The room was filled with our laughter, and the Madrigals stared at us in awe, Camilo's eyes filled with love.

'I'm falling in love with him all over again...'

It's been over a year, i actually unpublished this book so for anyone wondering where this book went, it was unpublished. I didn't really edit this book much to be honest. Initially, I was planning to discontinue it, but I want to finish this book with a happy ending and not an open one.

You've reached the end of published parts.
