The summer of 1038, Sirius is 28 years old and gets bitten by a Royal Vampire - turning him. His affinity with dark magic and shadow magic became stronger and the only wizard that could match his power was Merlin himself.
Merlin is impressed with Sirius' knowledge of both Dark and Light magic and learns a lot from the newly turned vampire, while Sirius and the others are surprised that no one is batting an eye at the fact that he is now a Dark Creature.
Merlin laughs when Sirius asks him about this fact in confusion, thinking that Sirius was joking. But when Merlin realises that Sirius was being genuinely confused about this, he gathers the Founders and (those the Founders had dubbed as) The Protectors of the Young and asks them about their time.
They tell them their stories of discrimination and segregation, of disownment and family, of sorrow and happiness and of war and death.
Merlin is absolutely horrified by their tales and he, alongside the Founders, swears to change history for the better. The Protectors of the Young smile sadly at their ancestors and only say: "We truly hope that the future isn't set in stone."
