When necessary, he mediates between the Founders and argues with Salazar - before giving up and bringing Salazar with him on one of his many missions to save muggleborns, that opened up Salazar's eyes to the truth. That if muggleborns didn't know how to defend themselves, they would be killed. - thankfully, this made Salazar more open towards muggleborns and even went as far as to offer them to stay at the school during the holidays and school breaks.

This was an offer that many muggleborns were very grateful for and almost all of them made the choice to stay during the summer and winter holidays, making Salazar even more determined to help them survive their harsh world.

He watches, from the shadows he's concealed himself in, as a very different Wizarding World (from what he grew up in) builds up around him over the next centuries. A Wizarding World which knows better than to discriminate between blood differences.

Several old families of high standing are worshipping him as a god (almost 500 years after Helga Hufflepuff's death), not knowing that he is actually a vampire, and he has heard the stories the purebloods tell the muggle raised halfbloods and muggleborns. Tales of an ancient creature that helped the Founders of Hogwarts stick together, a wise creature that helped them shape the Wizarding World into what they know it as.

He doesn't want people to know that it's him, so he stays in the shadows, where he won't be seen.
