Vix's pov:

I wake up groggily to the sounds of my alarm. Charlie, who already knows full well what that means, hops up onto the bed and starts attacking my face in slobbery kisses. He knows that my morning alarm, this one set for 9AM, usually means walks. His wisdom can be a curse sometimes.

I groan, already knowing what the gender of the day is. Lightly shoving Charlie off of my chest, I head straight for one of my open boxes. Since I was feeling feminine yesterday, I didn't need it, but today I definitely do. I sit on my knees and riffle through the box until I pull my binder out. I'll need to unpack the rest of it later.

I grab some other clothes to throw on, a sweatshirt and shorts, and walk to the bathroom to get changed. After putting the binder and clothes on, I brush my teeth and head out to get Charlie and his leash. Luna never wakes up at least before 10AM, unless forced, so I leave her be. She knows about my walks, so I don't bother to leave a note.

Charlie and I make our way down the stairs of the building before leaving out the front door. The smell of rain from last night lingers in the air as we make our way down the sidewalk. I pull my air pods out of my hoodie's pocket and find one of my favorite artists, NOAHFINNCE, and shuffle his songs. I found his content when I was first getting comfortable with the fact I may not be a girl and was more than happy to find out that he's a trans artist. Now, on my most dysphoric days, I listen to his music. Obviously, I still listen to his amazing pop-punk music on good days, too, it's just now become a habit.

I love my morning walks. I love being able to have this time in the morning for myself, being able to take in and fully process things without having the pressure to be quick about it. I can just listen to music and think about life with my dog.

The song LALALA starts playing as Charlie and I continue down the sidewalk. The cool breeze combs through my hair as I take in the buildings around us. After another ten minutes of walking, one building in particular catches my eye.

A quaint little coffee shop on my left, the sign labeling it as The Garden, is partially overgrown with ivy. strung lights are snaked through the vines that are lazily clinging to the brick walls. The thin walls line the large glass windows that make up most of the front. I decide to walk Charlie and myself closer to the door and realize that the vines are just artificial recreations of the plant with the lights strung in.

One of the flowerpots framing the door catches Charlie's attention as I read a notice on the door. It has the open hours on it as well as their holiday schedule. Another sign on the door warns me that pets aren't allowed, making me frown. I make a mental note to try it out later. Maybe I'll drag Luna or Tommy along with me.

I decide that it's time to head back and pull Charlie away from the flowers. Noah's music continues screaming in my ears as we trek back home. I find myself humming along with CHASING DAYLIGHT when we finally make it to the apartment building.

When I get inside, I let Charlie off his leash and find Luna in the kitchen making breakfast. She ended up making a midnight grocery run after I fell asleep and had woken me up to eat ice cream and watch a movie when she got back at 3AM. Thankfully she had bought my favorite, raspberry chocolate chip, so I didn't beat her up.

I walk into the kitchen and gently nudge her shoulder with my head a few times. She continues to scramble the eggs in the pan, using her free hand to cup my face gently in acknowledgement of my presence.

"Morning, Vix."

"Morning, Moons," I grumble, my head now resting on her shoulder.

"You want me to make you some eggs?" she offers.

"No," I groan again.

"You sure? I can make you my mom's cheese biscuits?" Oh no. My one weakness. The superior cheese biscuits.

[a/n: to my people who aren't american, bc ik at least people in the uk dont call them biscuits, it's pretty much the equivalent to a cheese scone i think :)]

"No, I really just want to go back to bed."

"Oh, ok." She looks away from the stove for a moment and I can see the concern in her eyes. She knows I'm a sucker for Mrs. White's biscuits. "Let me know if you need anything, ok?"

"Ok, thank you," I respond with a small smile. I start heading back to my room before I hear Luna call out behind me.

"Oh, Vicky! Color?"

"Blue," I say, referring to my preferred pronouns. Like my rings, the pronouns are linked to just the colors as well. While I stand still to answer, Ryuk hobbles out of Luna's open door and makes her way to me. She starts making a figure eight between my feet, rubbing her face up against my legs.

Luna nods and I take that as a sign I can leave. I scoop Ryuk up from the ground and turn back to my room, the fur ball now purring in my arms.

After shutting the door, I curl up with Ryuk in my bed. She slinks under the blankets while I pick out a calmer playlist to listen to. I pick out a random "sad vibes- reverbed songs" from YouTube and drift back off to sleep.

—-------------------------

"Vix?"

A soft voice gently pulls me back to reality. Shuffling footsteps come from the door until I hear them stop at my bed. An "oof" noise comes from the person and a thump shakes the floor slightly.

"Vicky," the voice says again, dragging out the end. "C'mon, we got stuff to do and it's already 16:15."

"Tommy?" My voice comes out raspy from sleep. I roll over, rubbing my eyes and stretching, to see Tommy crouched on the floor beside me. We're nearly face-to-face but I don't put the effort in to fully process it. His hands are barely touching the edge of bed and his golden curls are clouding his eyes. I debate for a minute whether or not I should brush them out of his face, but I end up forgetting the impulse.

"The one and only," he breathes. An awestruck glint in his eye mixed with his barely audible comeback confuses me a bit.

"What?"

He sits for a minute, the look still there, before he shakes his head, physically getting rid of the thought.

"N-nothing," he says. "Do you wanna get up though? I came over to ask if you wanted to run to the store with me because I don't know what stuff you and Moony like. Y'know, to get snacks for tonight?"

"Tom, you know you could've just texted me to see what I would've wanted."

"Well, yes, I could have. But then I wouldn't have gotten to see your face."
