an illegal addiction

february 14th

so it's been just over a month since Anthony and I have started dating. nothing incredible has happened. we've gone on 5 dates including the Dunkin Donuts one. but we couldn't help that. we had to sneak around everybody... everywhere. nobody. and I mean nobody knows of our relationship. that's how it has to be and surprisingly... I'm okay with this. for the most part, on days like today I wish I could tell my friends the kind things my wonderful boyfriend did for me.

Today is Valentine's Day. Anthony told me he had made us plans. I'm not sure how this one will play out.

he said to be dressed nicely by 8 o'clock and to meet him at Dunkin donuts. I told him there was no way I could do this with out telling Kayla. I needed her to be my alibi. so we met up at around 3 in the afternoon, at the park a block or so form my house.

"Blair. I know you want to tell her. I know it sucks that you can't, but you- you can't."

"Anthony, I have to if you want your plan to work. I can't just not come home tonight."

he shook his head in disbelief.

"fine Blair. but seriously if this gets out, I will never forgive you. and don't over think that. you're amazing, it's not that I don't want people to know about us. it's just-"

"yeah. I know. you can't." I said shrugging away.

he grabbed my face nicely and made me look him in the eyes.

"listen, I promise you that everything is going to work itself out. now, go home. call Kayla and explain to her about us while she helps make you look even more beautiful than you already are." he gave me a smile kissing my head. I gave him a hug and walked towards my newly fixed car.

I drove home calling Kayla on the way there.

"hey Kay. so you know how you've been saying I've been too happy this last month and there's something going on i'm
not telling you about?" I said to my best friend on the phone.

"yup." she said annoyed.

"well will you come over so I can talk to you about it?" I said with hope filling my voice.

"I'll be there in 5." she sang.

I sat in my bathroom chair as Kayla curled my hair.

"okay so let me get this straight. you and Mr. Raven?"

"mhm." I responded.

"how does that even work?" she questioned.

"I mean it's hard. but it's definitely worth it. you've seen me everyday since we started dating and you've seen how happy I am. I'm a million times happier with Anthony than i ever was with Jared."

"I know you're happy that's why I'm sort of okay with this. but I don't want to see you hurt again or get into trouble because of this."

"we've been very careful. about everything." I said.

"wait!! have you guys had sex ?!?" she shrieked.

"God no! are you crazy?? we've only been dating a month, you know I'm not like that. why do you think jared cheated on me? I didn't give him what he wanted."

"sorry, when you said everything I was nervous."

"it's fine."

she finished my hair and it was now 6 o'clock.

I slipped on my brand new red dress. it had long sleeves and a cut out in the back. I had black high heels and a beautiful necklace that my dad bought me for my 16th birthday.

by the time I was dressed and my makeup was done it was 7:30. Kayla drove me to Dunkin and we chatted until Anthony arrived. they exchanged hellos and then we parted. Kayla went to her car and I followed Anthony to his.

we drove for a long while. I knew he was taking us out of town because he wanted to do something nice with out being recognized by anyone.

in the car we talked about nothing in particular but we learned so much about each other.

I looked over at my boyfriend as he was contently driving. eyes fixated on the road. I just looked at him smiling. he noticed and asked me what was wrong.

"oh, nothing." I giggled.

as we came to a red light he leaned over and kissed my forehead. I rested my head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around me, resting his hand on my hip. we drove the rest of the way like that, it was uncomfortably comfortable. yes I know that's a contradiction but when 2 people are content together the most uncomfortable things are tolerated.

so we went to a small town about and hour and a half from where we live in Pineville. Anthony pulled into a parking lot of a nice hotel. he parked and got out of the car, coming over to open the door for me.

he opened it and as I stepped out he grasped my hand and twirled me around. he brought me into an embrace and kissed me.

"you look stunning." he mumbled with his lips attached to my forehead.

"you don't look too shabby either." I giggled with a smirk.

we joined hands while walking into the hotel. the restaurant was just beside the large ball room. it seemed fairly nice.

we were greeted by a woman who looked about Anthony's age and she seated us.

"my name is Mindy, and I'll be your server tonight. can I get you guys anything to drink?" the woman named Mindy asked.

"we'll each take a glass of red wine and 2 waters with lemon." Anthony told her.

she nodded and proceeded back to the kitchen.

"you know me so well." I blushed.

"well you are my girlfriend. that's kinda how it works babe." he smiled.

I smiled back at him not sure of what to say. this is our first actual date and it was nice but so awkward.

eventually the awkwardness faded and we had a good time. the food was excellent and so was Anthony.

I'm not really sure how the rest of this night is going to play out... considering we're staying in this hotel. in the same room. in the same bed. I'm excited but nervous and scared. what should I do?
