Commander Cody of the 212th was the highest ranking clone in the Grand Army of the Republic, a peacekeeper, a solider, and a veteran on the front lines. He'd lived through battle after battle and fought alongside one of the greatest generals in the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi. He'd fought by his brothers's sides and grew close with them through the war, priding himself with his battalion. They could face any challenge in Cody's eye, as long as they had each other.

Except, for the one challenge the weren't prepared for.

Which was Ally Zinch, his Jedi commander.

Now Cody respected her greatly. She was fierce and smart in battle, and protected his brothers more than her own life (he blamed Kenobi for the habitat). But off the battlefield....it was different.

Truly, Cody had no idea how Ally Zinch had become a member of the 212th. As far as he knew, she'd been with another Jedi Master before Kenobi, but something happened and she was placed under his watch to finish her apprenticeship. How she came to be there was a great source of gossip and interest to the clones, one Cody equally discouraged and listened too.

Some said she'd been in a terrible battle in resulted in her transfering to Obi-Wan, others said that she was ignored and expelled as a student by her first master. And the truly absurd said that Ally had committed a crime against the Jedi code which lead her to being placed under Obi-Wan's guidance as a punishment. That was the one rumor Cody made sure to put out.

In truth, Cody suspected it was something to do with clones.

He'd watched how Ally had interacted with them, distant and almost afraid. Anytime they'd try to interact she'd respond quickly and politely excuse herself before any true conversation could happen. In fact, the only person he'd ever heard her say more than few words too off the battlefield was Obi-Wan.

Her mood too, was foreign to Cody.

Jedi always seemed so full of life and passion, yet Ally Zinch seemed to him, the most lifeless person he'd ever encountered. She never smiled or laughed, doing motions like a droid would, and constantly staring off with glassy eyes and a mind clearly not aboard the Negotiator. He worried it was something to do with health, but when he sent her off to Helix, all medical reports came back clean, which confused Cody even more and made Helix worry too. What was wrong with their commander?

"Cody?," the pleaseant voice of Obi-Wan rang out and Cody snapped to attention. "Sir," he said, nodding his head as his general walked into the mess. "I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me and Ally to welcome a guest aboard? Master Plo asked if I'd take in his padawan, Rin, for a few days well he went on a rather dangerous recovery mission and she should be here momentarily," Obi-Wan said, smiling. Cody smiled slightly and nodded. "Of course sir," he said, grabbing his helmet and tucking it under his arm before following his general out the door. He'd been eager to meet the woman who'd stressed Wolffe out to a nervous breakdown and several comm calls to Fox and himself during the night.

"And, please, don't tell Ally who it is," Obi-Wan whispered as they approached Commander Zinch's figure in the doorway of the hanger. Cody nodded slowly, confused but not wanting to question his orders.

"Commander," he said as they entered the hanger with Ally. "Commander Cody," she said back with a small nod.

The three walked to the center and stood, seeing a small ship getting permission to board from just beyond the shields. "You still haven't told me who this is Master Kenobi," Ally commented, glancing at Obi-Wan. He simply smiled and shrugged. "I think you'll enjoy the surprise." Ally looked at Cody briefly in confusion but all he could do was give a shrug as well.
