i was awoken by a sleepy aaron, gently shaking me. my eyes slowly open, squinting a little before i manage to adjust to the light.

"what time is it?" i ask him.

"10am." he says checking his watch.

"when does the plane land?" i say, rubbing my eyes.

"in about 15 minutes." a passing air hostess says, smiling at us. i thank her as she walks away. chloe was already up, and was applying some concealer.

"morning." i say to her, as she cheerfully smiles at me.

"morning." she says, finishing her concealer.

i unzip my rucksack, pulling out my deodorant, spraying under my armpits. i grab the packet of gum, and pull a piece out, offering aaron and chloe a piece. they both take one, and i then throw it back into my bag.

i chew on the gum, pulling my phone out. i press down on the lock button, turning it on. i wait a few minutes, before putting in the vital 4 digit code, pressing the snapchat app. i press my phone against the plane window, recording the baby blue coloured sky, filled with many clouds. i add it to my story, then return to my homepage, going onto twitter.

i scroll through my newsfeed, retweeting a few tweets and favouriting others. the same air hostess returns, and kindly asks me to turn off my phone, as we were shortly arriving. i quickly turn it to airplane mode, then switch it off, placing it back into my rucksack.

i check all my belongings are there, and zip it up. as the plane neared the ground, i look out of the window, everything becoming larger. a sudden bump told me the landing gear was released.

"we have now arrived at san diego international airport, please wait until an air hostess allows you to unfasten your seatbelts. thank you for travelling with american airlines." the intercom spoke.

soon an air hostess walked past, telling us we can unfasten our seat belts. i undo it, standing up, stretching my legs. i grab my rucksack, pulling it on my shoulders.

the doors had already opened but we decided to stay back a bit so it wasn't too crowded when we leave. chloe finished putting all her makeup away, before we all boarded off the plane.

we begin to walk out into the terminal, and follow the signs until we arrive at baggage claim. we patiently wait for our suitcases to come around, then grab them the moment we spot them. i pull the handle up, and drag it along with me. we head to the entrance of the airport, and once we're outside, Chloe speaks up.

"what now?" chloe asks as we all look around aimlessly.

"i'll ring bart." aaron says, pulling his phone out from his adidas sweatpants. he raises his phone to his ear, before talking a few moments later.

"hey bart, where are we going?" he asks.

he stops, listening then speaks again.

"okay, thanks." he says, then pulls the phone from his ear, hanging up.

"he's sent a car for us." aaron says.

we make small talk for a while, before a car pulls up infront of us. a man hops out, walking round to greet us.

"carpenter?" he asks.

aaron nods, and we all pile into the back seats of the car as the driver places our suitcases in the boot.

we soon drive out from the airport car park, the smell of fuel soon turning into the sweet smell of flowers and the trees. i stare out of the window, admiring the tall buildings. aaron's phone vibrates, and he pulls it out, reading the text out loud.
