luna carpenter

i was completely stunned. he was here. why was he here? he was awkwardly looking around, before he coughed, and then spoke up.

"can i sit down?" he asked, pointing to my books on the empty seat next to me.

i quickly nodded, removing the books from the seat, placing them on the table, as he sat down. i pulled my phone from my pocket, hiding it under the table where he wouldn't see it, unlocking it, tapping on the messages app.

03:12pm
new message to marnie💟
that's the boy from what the party???

i sent it to marnie, keeping my eyes down, as i didn't want to make eye contact with the boy - well cameron, as i recently found out.

i saw marnie pull her phone out, and read the text, before turning around to look at me, with her mouth slightly parted. i rubbed my head, letting a quiet sigh slip out of my mouth.

"urm, hi.. you're luna then?" he asks, his face a little pink.

i nod, finally looking up to meet his eyes.

"what do you want to do for this proj-" he asks, looking down at the paper, before i quickly cut him off.

"why did you run off last night?" i ask sternly, he looked up at me, then back down, fiddling with his fingers.

just as he opened his mouth to speak, the bell went. he shut his mouth, and i rolled my eyes slightly, grabbing my books, walking out of the room, marnie soon following behind me.

"hey, wait.. luna!" i heard marnie call, walking beside me.

i slow down, allowing her to catch up with me as we move through the corridors.

"jesus, i need to work out." marnie states, panting alittle.

"can we just go? i'm tired." i tell her bluntly, as we walk out of the front door, and walk through the carpark.

marnie pulls out her keys and unlocks the car, and looked back up at me. she smiled alittle at me, before opening her door and sitting down on the drivers seat.

i sigh, and pull open the door, and sit down in the passenger seat.

"i'm sure he had a perfectly good reason to run off like that." marnie says after a few minutes of silence.

"what sort of reason?" i say, leaning back against the soft leather seat.

the back doors open and a laughing chloe and esme sit down on the back seats. they stop laughing when they see mine and marnie's expressions.

"what's happened?" chloe ask's, leaning forward.

"nothing, can we just go please?" i ask, resting my head against the cold glass.

i close my eyes as we drive, and listen to the music playing gently from the radio. i don't bother to join in the conversations, as the girls discuss the new one direction song.

when the car stops, i open my eyes to see we've pulled up outside my house.

"i'll talk on the whatsapp group." i tell them, smiling slightly.

"bye babes." marnie says, waving.

"see you later." esme says, and chloe waves to me.

i open the car door, closing the door, waving off as they drive away.

i walk up the garden path, pulling my keys out from my pocket, sliding it into the keyhole.

"i'm home." i call out, unlacing my shoes, and throwing them into the shoe basket. i chuck my keys into the key pot, before moving towards the kitchen.
