2 Years ago, March 18th, year 849.
Releasing a sigh, the man pushed down the handle to his door, only to find its was locked. Clicking his tongue in annoyance, he glanced down to the large pile of papers he was balancing on his left arm.
Shifting his weight, Levi dug his hand into his pants pocket in search of the keys. Once he latched his fingers around the cool metal, he pulled them out. Fishing out the correct key with his one hand, he pushed it into the handle.
Once he heard the satisfying click, he quickly walked into the office, shutting and locking the door behind himself. Putting the stack of papers onto his desk, Levi made his way to the other door, quickly unlocking it.
Pushing the door open, his eyes immediately connected with those of (Y/n)'s. She stood behind the kitchen counter, chopping up some vegetables. As soon as she saw him, a warm smile spread across her lips.
Toeing off his shoes, he tossed the keys onto the small table near the door. Walking further into the kitchen, he soon noticed the young girl who sat atop the counter "helping" her mother.
With a carrot halfway shoved into her mouth she smiled widely, "Daddy!" She exclaimed as she moved towards him.
Picking up the young girl, Levi kissed the top of her head.
"Hi, Isabel. Are you helping mom?" He asked, poking the cheek that protruded with a carrot in it.
"Yeah!" She said defensively, "Mommy's making soup."
"Mm," Levi hummed, glancing to the woman, "Is she now?"
Smiling to him, "She is." (Y/n) grinned, slicing a carrot thinly.
Moving closer to the woman, Levi stood behind her. Leaning forward he kissed her cheek, listening as the child started the disapprove of the affection.
"Ew! Gross!" Isabel covered her eyes as she squirmed in Levi's arms.
"What? You don't like it?" (Y/n) gasped dramatically, setting the knife down and turning around, "What about... now?" She smirked as she started to smother the little girl with kisses and tickle her. Laughing when she started to squeal and giggle.
Pulling away, Isabel gasped for air.
"Ah, I see how it is. We can only give you kisses, just not each other?" (Y/n) chuckled, placing her hands on her hips.
"Yeah!" Isabel replied proudly.
"Hmm... what a shame... it's to bad I don't really care about your rules." Levi spoke sarcastically to the child, leaning forward and pecking (Y/n) on the lips. Watching as Isabel howled with disgust, a soft expression on his face as (Y/n) laughed.
"Okay okay, go wash your hands Isabel. Dinner will be soon." (Y/n) smiled lightly as Levi set her down, watching as she ran off to the bathroom.
The small family ate their dinner peacefully, watching as the sun set behind the walls. A soft glow flowing through their large window, lighting up the room. Laughter from the child filled the air with warmth, the night slowly coming to a close.
Soon enough Isabel lay in her bed, her lips curving upwards as the felt the warmth of her mothers lips against her forehead.
"Goodnight baby, I love you." (Y/n) whispered, softly running the backs of her fingers along the child's face.
"Love you too, Mommy.." Isabel mumbled back.
The door to her room closed softly, leaving it just a crack open. Letting some of the light from the hall flow into it.
