the loud ringtone of matt's phone had both matt and hope bolting up straight in alarm. matt's arms that were wrapped around hope's waist were carefully untangled as he sat up in the bed, hastily trying to find his phone. the covers had moved positions and he was struggling to identify where the source of the noise had gotten to. hope plucked the laptop from the bed and placed it on the floor next to her. she yawned due to the suddenness of the call and watch as matt fumbled around to answer the call after he had located the phone.

"i'm fine, i'll text you. don't worry... mhm," matt spoke back and forth before he cut the phone and sighed.

he turned to give hope a sheepish smile that she returned too well. they were exes who had just woken up in each other's arms, excuse them for being a little star struck.

"i don't even know when we fell asleep," hope pointed out nervously as she stretched her limbs for a little too long to be deemed normal.

"me neither," matt mumbled as he mirrored her actions.

perfect. awkward tension; exactly what they needed after such a good time together. after a few moments, hope stood up from her bed and matt followed her wordlessly as they made their way downstairs. at one point during their sleep, hope's parents had come home. they assumed matt and hope wouldn't want to be woken up and so left them to be. selena would be lying if she said she didn't get a quick picture of the two of them cuddled together. she believed it was a sight worth treasuring and who better to treasure it than herself?

hope quickly adjusted her pony tail so that it was a little less all over the place as she walked down the stairs. they entered the living room together and found selena and dylan watching the news.

"hello sleepyheads," selena laughed as the duo slumped onto the perpendicular couch to the one hope's parents were seated at.

hope gave her mother wide eyes that had her attempting to stifle her laugh and matt laughed at selena's words before yawning again.

"you staying for breakfast matt?" dylan asked as he shifted his gaze from the big screen to matt.

matt shook his head, "no thank you, i need to head home."

dylan nodded his head at the boy's words and after a little lazing around and speaking about nothing in particular, matt had left the house. the moment the door shut behind him, hope let out a frustrated yell. her parents showed no remorse as they laughed at their daughter's expense.

"this is not a laughing matter. it's all going to be awkward now!" hope groaned as she stuffed her face into the cushion behind her.

"then make it not awkward," dylan suggested and hope rolled her eyes.

"you're so helpful, oh wise one," hope deadpanned and dylan laughed.

"i'm being serious. it's only awkward if you make it that way. act like nothing weird happened and he'll have no choice but to do the same," the man advised and hope found herself actually listening to the advice.

"if it helps, you looked very cute sleeping together," selena smiled and hope sighed loudly.

selena grabbed her phone from her lap and clicked onto her pictures, tapping on the most recent one and twisting the phone so that hope could see the content.

"you took a picture!" hope yelled with her head in her hands.

"it was adorable!" selena retorted as she looked at the picture some more, showing her husband too.

the picture was quite cute, in all honesty. it consisted of matt's arm wrapped around hope's waist with her head snuggled into the crook of his neck. his head was touching hers as his hair fell over hers. her hair was sprawled over the pillow and a little over matt's hand. they were both smiling minimally, even when they were unaware of what they were doing and who they were doing it with.
