"matt would you stop turning and tossing like you're fighting demons or something?" hope sighed as matt turned for what felt like the millionth time.

"give me a break, the sun is going to make me blind," matt groaned as he placed his hand over his head to shield himself from the far too bright light beaming from the brightest star.

hope chuckled a little and continued brushing her fingers through his delicate hair. they were sat on a blanket on the grainy sand of a nearby beach. hope's legs were sprawled out and matt was laying on her right leg, his head finding comfort laying on her as she mindlessly played with his hair.

"i'll still love you when you can't see," hope declared dramatically and matt shuffled in his position to get more comfortable yet again.

she smiled down at the content look on his face as he listened to her words before responding, "even if i can't see when we're playing uno?"

"we can get braille versions i'm more than sure," she hummed and he grabbed her hand that wasn't playing with his hair and clasped it with his own.

"but then i won't be able to see you," he sighed as if it was actually going to happen.

"you'll forget me?" she scoffed jokingly and he clutched onto her hand more firmly.

"of course not, how could i ever forget that pretty face?" he teased with a smirk and let himself get lost in the way the blood rushed to her cheeks becoming so scarlet, they were maroon.

"shut up matthew," she groaned, tugging on his hair ever so slightly.

he yelled mockingly but the noise faded into the slashing of the waves ahead. they fought against one another in a battle of who could come out the strongest and they did not seem to be giving up. despite the ferocious battle, the rippling noise felt peaceful and the couple allowed the background noise to consume them like soft melodies they wanted to play forever. the small squeaking of the birds blurred into their conversation and the chatter of others far away.

the area they were residing in was rather empty, minus the few children running past every now and again. they purposely chose a spot that wouldn't interrupt them on their tranquil day and they were eternally thankful when hours passed by with just the two of them.

matt looked up to glance at hope, his jawline sharp and his face so close that hope could almost feel his breathing. he looked at his girlfriend and felt nothing but astonished: her eyes that lightened significantly in the sun and her hair that swayed in the little gushes of wind that made appearances every so often. the smile on her face as she stared ahead, not even noticing his eyes on her and how beautiful she looked simply doing nothing at all.

her hands were still fiddling with his hair and each stroke was gentler than the last as she carefully worked her fingers through the bundle of strands. her bracelet was reflecting from the sun and he stared at the small initial carved into it.

"our initials are h and m, like the shop," he pointed out for some reason and her eyes shifted to him.

her breathing paused momentarily as she caught sight of him staring up at her without her realisation.

"how fancy matt! how long have you been staring at me?" hope questioned with a grin.

"not that long, i interrupted myself," he laughed.

"you look very good right now," hope said airily, taking in the way matt looked in the moment.

his eyes were fixed solely on her and his jaw honestly looked sharper than she had ever seen it. his blue eyes looked more entrancing than the water ahead and his hair was sticking up in multiple directions but in a way, it still looked far beyond perfect.
