"Hey asshole!"
Aonung looked up from his crossbow, his brow furrowed with hesitancy. He sighed, reluctantly turning to Tefiti, who was marching towards him. Aonung had disappeared for 2 whole days to avoid her wrath.
"You know, when I said be nice to the forest people I didn't mean luring that poor boy outside the reef and leaving him there to die." He groaned under his breath; he was ready to be slapped across the face by the girl, but she let out an exasperated sigh.
"I don't even have time for you right now, I'm sick of telling you the same thing over and over again. Lo'ak is talking again apparently." She grabbed his wrist, pulling him away from his friends. He yelped quietly, following close behind her as they walked to where the group usually met up in silence.
On the overhang which looked out onto the the fishermen's district, sat the Sully children and Tsireya and Rotxo. Neteyam's eyes widened at Tefiti who flicked Aonung's wrist out of her harsh grip. Her face softened into a reassuring smile as she knelt close to his side. He placed a hand on her lower back. "Morning." "Hi forest boy."
Lo'ak had woken up on top of a Tulkun in the middle of nowhere outside the reef. The Tulkun had taken care of him apparently and played with him all day before helping him get back to the village.
"I wish I'd been there, the ocean blessed you with a gift brother." Kiri grinned at Lo'ak.
Aonung leaned on the palm tree next to Tefiti looking down on him. "The Tulkun have not returned yet. And anyway, no Tulkun is ever alone." He leaned down towards Lo'ak.
"This one was. He had, uh, a missing fin. Like a stump on his left side." Tefiti raised an eyebrow at the the three Metkayina. They nodded to eachother, the Sullys watching in confusion.
"Payakan. It's Payakan." Tsireya muttered quietly. Kiri cocked her head at Tefiti.
"Who is Payakan?""A young bull who went rogue. He's outcast, alone and has a missing fin." Rotxo glanced towards Aonung, who shrugged.
"They say he is a killer." Tefiti scoffed, elbowing Aonung in his calf. "Nice one fish face." The grumbled to himself under his breath at her remark.
"No. No." Lo'ak shook his head.
"He killed Na'vi and other Tulkun." Aonung spoke up, narrowing his eyes at the boy. Neteyam glanced towards him with concern, then to Tefiti who nodded. "Not here, but far to the south."
"No, he's no killer!"
"Lo'ak." Tefiti leaned forward, her green eyes meeting his yellow ones. "You are lucky to be alive."
"I'm telling you guys. He saved my life!" He glanced around to the others, who stared back at him blankly. "He's my friend."
