Hunter's POV:

Raine shut their door after we all entered their room. "So, what can I do to help?" I asked, as I took off my mask.

Raine was the first to speak up. "How about you help answer some questions so we can defea- figure out who's planning this.

I nodded, "okay." Sounds good.

"Where could these traitors hide where Emperor Belos wouldn't be able to find them?" Raine asked.

"Nowhere. The only place anyone could hide from him is only accessible to coven heads and the Emperor."

"And, what if the traitors are coven heads?"

I looked down at my interlacing hands before speaking. "There is an underground hiding space, that's the only place they'd be able to harm him."

"Good," Raine said. "What could the Emperor do to protect himself?"

"He could call anyone from the covens to come running, he could use his magic, he could do anything. Besides, I'm always by his side. I'll be able to protect him."

Raine frowned and Darius stepped in to ask me his questions. "What could these traitors use against the Emperor?"

"Nothing..."

Raine looked worryingly towards Darius and he looked at them the same. Then, for some reason, Eber was growling. "Are you sure?" Raine asked me.

"Yes."

Darius came closer before speaking. "Is there anywhere the Emperor could hide? If they attacked from the hiding space?"

"Of course there is."

"Where?" Darius asked.

I looked away from the coven heads. "I can't answer that. Even with the Emperor's life being in danger, he'd never let me tell you."

Raine interjected. "But, Hunter-"

"No!" I shouted, standing up and causing the others to look at each other with sad and shocked expressions.

Raine got closer to me and put their hand on my shoulder earning a small jump. "We want to save him, Hunter. But we can't do that without you. Your Uncle is all the family you have, and you can save him."

I looked up at Raine in shock, knowing they could see my sadness. Almost no one knows that Emperor Belos is my uncle. The people that do know, like the coven heads and a few people in my coven, never say anything about it. Unless they are gossiping about me of course. Raine is right though. My uncle is the only person in my life I have left. I don't know what I'd do without him. I sighed quietly and looked up at Raine with sad eyes. "Don't tell him I told you."

Raine smiled kindly at me, "We won't."

"There is a place where he goes to be alone. My uncle has a secret passage in the castle that he will take to the skull. I've only been there a few times, but he should be safe there." I spoke quietly.

"And where is the entrance?"

I shyed away and Darius rubbed the bridge of his nose, obviously getting frustrated. "You must tell us if you want us to help, little prince."

"I'm sorry, I can't."

"Fine. Who all would come for us if we killed belos?" Darius said before quickly slapping his hand over his mouth.

I don't know what to feel. Betrayed, hurt, confused. I didn't think they would do this to me. "You lied to me, didn't you? You're not trying to protect him, you're trying to hurt him, and you were going to use me to do it."

Eber frowned, Darius looked away like he was in pain, and Raine looked like they werear about to cry as they reached out for me. "No, Hunter. No.."

A few tears fell down my cheek onto the floor as I put my mask on. "I hate you all." Like that, I ran out of the door. Far away, so they couldn't find me, and so I could tell my uncle what the group of coven heads were planning.

As I was running down the hall, to get to Emperor Belos, Kikimora blocked my path. "Oh, Golden Gaurd. I have something to show you."

"Not right now Kikimora" I growled, as I pushed past her.

"Fine," she said. "I'll just tell the Emperor about how you failed to capture that escaped basilisk."

I stopped in my tracks and turned back to her. "What? but!"

"Tsk tsk tsk. You should know by now, Golden Gaurd. I don't make empty threats."

I frowned. "What do you want from me, Kikimora?"

"I want you to go to the owl lady's house and capture her. Then, I want you to give her to me so I can tell the Emperor that It was me."

"But-"

"No buts, Golden Gaurd! You know what you have to do."

I sighed. "Okay, fine."

"Such a good pet" Kikimora taunted. "I'll be seeing you once you've caught the owl lady."

I turned from Kikimora and left.

You wouldn't think it, but Kikimora used to be my friend.

When I was first entering training she knew how young I was. So, she offered me food when I wasn't supposed to have any. she'd get me out of any trouble I'd gotten into. She'd hurt anyone who'd laugh at me for being magicless. On our day off she'd even hang out with me around bones burrow.

Then, when she found out I was the Emperor's nephew.

She grew angry with me. She stopped calling me Hunter, only the Golden Gaurd. She tried to get me in trouble whenever she could, and she started to laugh at me because of my lack of magic.

It hurts to know that she turned against me the second she knew about me. But, hey. That's life. And now,

It's time to capture an owl.
