I stared at him in shock at what he had just said. I needed to take in the information and process it completely. My mind and my heart were playing battles with each other and I didn't know what to believe. But I knew that Nathan doesn't really have a reason to lie to me.
"Kiara.." Nathan pulled me out of my trance.
"I have to go." I announced as I sprung off the bed and into the toilet. The walls around my throat had become uncomfortably dry and I felt like my stomach was moving to my mouth. I wanted to puke everything inside of me.
"Kiara! Please! Open up." Nathan ordered as he knocked on the door.
"Please babe. I didn't mean to upset you." He said softly. It wasn't him that upset me. It was what he said. His words kept ringing in my mind again and again and my world had started to spin. The temptation to kill myself had risen up my nerves and I didn't know to control it. My whole life has been a lie and only terrible stuff have happened to me. I wondered what I had done wrong to deserve such a sinner's destiny.
"Kiara.. please.." Nathan begged. I unlocked the door for him so he could open it himself. His cheeks were wet from all the crying that he had been doing.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you." He sniffed.
"It's not your fault Nathan." I replied.
"I won't say anything more." He spoke softly as he turned to walk away. But I grabbed his wrist and stopped him.
"Can we go out for a few minutes?" I asked.
"Babe, it's not safe."
"I really want some fresh air."
"But they could find us!"
"Please." I begged.
He thought through it all for a second and then lightly nodded.
"Thank you." I smiled softly. He took my hand and intertwined our fingers together. We slowly walked outside the house.
It felt more soothing as the fresh air hit me. We walked in utter silence, just enjoying the sound of the soft breeze. I watched as the people from the city walked quietly down the roads. The parks were filled with little kids running around, screaming and enjoying all the freedom they had. I imagined what it would have been like if I was in their situation.
The world is a dark place, filled with people so ambitious, that they are ready to hurt anyone. They just kill you for anything they want with a dark and cold heart. That dead look on their face and the cold feeling of their skin is a fearful vision. Your cries for help, your fearful looks don't faze them to the slightest. Maybe even I had changed as an assassin, but deep down I knew I was wrong. It just took me a while to realize.
We reached the end of the park and Nathan took a quick glance to see if anyone was on us. Luckily the whole street was clear. We sat down on the grass and I softly played with it. I noticed Nathan's stare upon me so I looked up at him.
"Maybe we should go back." He said
"But we just came!"
"Babe, they'll find us." He said with a tensed face.
"Why did your father save me?" I asked as I changed the topic.
"My father is a nice, kind-hearted man." He said as he looked down. "You probably don't think that because of Danny."
"Danny didn't tell me much about your father."
"What did he tell you."
"He told me that he has something to do with my kidnapping."
Nathan gave out a cold chuckle and looked up to the sky to block the tears from flowing down his face. I gently grabbed his hand in mine and squeezed it softly.
"I trust you Nathan." I smiled weakly at him.
"I remember you as Chloe. You were that pretty girl who they beat up very bad." He spoke.
"You knew me as a child?" I asked surprised.
"Yes. My father brought you home and put you into our guest rooms. You never got out of it. I always checked up on you."
I couldn't believe what he was saying. I couldn't remember any such things, but I could tell from his tone that he honestly spoke of the truth.
".. One day, we looked and you weren't there. We knew that Danny had kidnapped you. We were expecting him to hurt you again. But then we got news that he was using you and few other innocent people to kill all his targets. I came around many times to save you and to talk to you, but you were always so scared of strangers."
He was right. I was always scared of strangers. Especially male ones. Siva and Jay were literally my only friends.
"That night, I knew Danny's next target would have been me and my dad. So I planned against him. I purposely went to that club because I knew you would be there too. I wanted to save you then itself, but I knew you wouldn't believe me. So I waited.. and I'm telling you now.."
I listened to everything he said with an open mind. I realised what a trap Danny had set me up on.
"We have you save your father." I told him.
"My father's safe."
"Oh.. good."
"Kiara, please don't ever go back to Danny." He said softly.
"I'll never leave." I assured him. He leaned forward and pressed his soft lips against mine. I shut my eyes and felt the love for the first time in my entire life. I wrapped my arms around his neck as I pulled him closer.
"I love you." I mumbled against his lips. Those 3 words that I had barely knew the meaning to, were now something I relied on.
"I love you too." He smiled as he played with my hair. I joined our lips again, but soon stopped as I heard gunfire. I pushed Nathan to the ground in the matter of a second and felt something shoot into my stomach.
"KIARAA" I heard Nathan scream.
"Nathan.." I whispered, touching my stomach and revealing the red blood. Another bullet came flying into my stomach pushing me to the ground.
Soon everything went blank.
