Chapter 1

There she was sitting in her chair with the sun shining down on her golden blonde hair. The light was hitting her beautifully deep blue sea eyes and the wind was blowing just enough to make it feel as if the wind was Jesus himself hugging her tightly. Terri Joe could smell the wild flowers, fresh cut grass, and the cornbread her mama was making in the oven. All of a sudden the light disappeared, so she looked up and that's when she saw him. Alex Cheap. He stood there more than six feet tall with broad shoulders, dark luscious hair, beautiful hazel eyes that are so pretty you might mistake them for an art piece Michelangelo painted. He was wearing a slightly ripped white tight fitting sweater that showed off his abs and a black leather jacket. His hair was blowling in the wind but not one hair was out of place. He was like a greek God come to life. His cheeks were slightly red and his eyebrow was slightly raised. Terri Joe felt uneasy because Alex had never looked so stern before. That's when she heard it. Three life changing words. He asked "Is it true?" Terri Joe responded, "You'll need to be more specific. Is what true". That's when Alex started talking faster than she had ever heard him speak before, almost like the words were fighting to get out. He said.

"I over heard Tianna telling Sam down at the bar that you are pregnant and that you've been dealing with morning sickness and that's the real reason you haven't been on Tiktok live lately."

Terri Joe's demeanor changed completely. She went from her usual upbeat smile to a small frown and her head was pointed directly at the ground. She began to speak, but the words were as low and as soft as a whore in church on a Sunday during Easter service. You could've heard a dandelion drop. The only words that could be heard from her soft voice were "It's true". Alex immediately embraces Terri Joe with a warm hug. He started slowly and gently rubbing her head as he said "Listen I know you want to be a settle down and be a wife and live a good Christian life but I was wondering if maybe you'd want to be mine?" Terri Joe hugged him tighter without saying a word. Alex continued to talk. He said "I can get a third job at Fantasia and you can quit your job at Merlot's bar so you can stay home with our kids and focus your free time on your true christian calling at the church I promise I'll be a good husband one that you can be proud of and I'll be a good dad to our babies." Alex's demeanor changed immediately. He became cold and quiet. He slowly sat Terri Joe down back in her wheelchair. He asked "was it with him? " Terri Joe said in a heart wrenching tone. "Yes, it was Nathan Compton. " Alex walked away, got on his motorcycle and drove away. Later that night Terri Joe woke up cold and noticed her window was open, so she got in her chair and rolled over towards it to close it. That's when she saw Johnny was sitting on her roof. He was 6 foot 2, skinny, and had brown hair. He had a glorious beard and a mustache like you'd see in an 80's movie. He was wearing a flannel shirt and jeans like a well established southern gentleman.

He turned to look at Terri Joe as if he could see straight through her and said, "Your scent is different. " she turned more pale than usual as the moonlight kissed her skin and she slowly put her hand in her hair as

Johnny slowly grabbed her wrist. He held it close to his thin lips, his sharp fangs appeared, and it was clear as day that he was about to take a bite. Less than a second had passed when Terri Joe quickly pulled away. She said "I'm not feeling well is all". Johnny furrowed his browns and stared at her with a vein in the side of his neck clearly visible. He said "You're lying". Those two words hit her like a hot knife through apple pie at a church bake-sale. It hurt because it was true. Terri Joe quickly said, "How dare you Johnny! I am a Christian lady and you will not disrespect me at my home. Leave". So Johnny jumped off of the second floor roof and disappeared in to the night.
Eight months later, during a rainy day, Terri Joe's mama dropped her off at work so she was serving food at Merlot's bar like it was just any other day. During her shift, Tara was attacked by a coyote, so Terri Joe took her in the freezer and helped clean up her wounds. Meanwhile in the front of the bar Layfayette and Jason were fighting with some men who accused Jason of having a secret relationship with their wives. Lafayette threw hot grease on one of the men. Terri Joe rolled out and tried to break it up, but got hit in her stomach. She thought her water broke when she felt a warm liquid falling down her leg, but it was actually blood. Tianna, who was still dealing with her own injuries and Sam Merlot, who was slightly drunk, carried her to his truck. They rushed Terri Joe to the hospital. While they were in the waiting room Terri Joe was greeted by Alex Cheap, who was excited to see that the twins looked just like him and that Terri Joe appeared to be healthier again. Meanwhile, Johnny was sitting on the roof of the hospital talking to Pam, who told him to let go of Terri Joe and allow her to have the life she dreams of with Alex. Johnny was visibly angry and he punched Pam in the stomach. He then jumped off the roof and disappeared in to the darkness. Afterwards, Tianna walked in the hospital room with some food for Terri Joe and a bottle but was shocked when she saw that Alex was sitting in the chair holding the twins while Terri slept. Shocked because she and Alex had sex off and on for four months prior to his relationship with Terri Joe. Tianna bite her lip and attempted to hide her pain as she
asked him "what are their names". Meanwhile downstairs in the morgue, Jessica Hamby was stealing blood bags when someone who's underneath a sheet grabbed her leg.
