Realising they had some outlying enemy to contend with, the two groups begin to fight together as they are very gravely outnumbered. Acoris and Amra begin shooting arrows at an impressive speed to the enemy group, having been specifically trained for combat in this terrain. Kieran, Cael, and Lynet all rush the ground team of the enemy, focusing on more hand-to-hand combat. At one point, an arrow scrapes past Acoris' leg, gnashing him pretty severely. Enid rushes to the man's side and takes one of her bandages, wrapping it tight around the wound and applying a cleansing agent. Acoris nods to her gratefully and she turns to run off towards her own group, should they need aid.
In the woods, the whizzing as bodies fall from their positions can be heard, followed by the sharp thud of the weight against the foliage.
Whoever the strange woodland enemies are, they hide amongst the trees and begin to shoot arrows down at the group. One of the arrows begins to fly directly at Acoris's skull.
In a frenzy, Amra throws her hammer-like weapon to knock the arrow of course, succeeding. However, the weapon does not stop there. Having its course altered by the arrow, the hammer finds its way directly into, and through the sturdy metal of Cael's chestplate.
Lynet sees the hammer embedded into his chest and curses aloud. She rushes off in some unknown direction.
Kieran falls to Cael's side, blocking all of the further weapons with his shield and tail but being unable to turn his attention to the man. Enid makes it to them and starts trying to mend the wound but the hammer has sunken far deeper than she's comfortable with.
Lynet returns to the spot where Cael lies after having hardly been gone for a full moment. Thman is trying to convince Enid to focus on the fight and let him be with ragged breaths.
"It's alright, my love. Just go, fight."
"Cael, there's an Elven blade in your chest."
"Nonsense, it's hardly in there at all."
"Cael-"
"Enid, I need you to keep the rest of them alive."
"I'm trying to keep you alive."
The woman's eyes are welling with tears as she tries to use her cooling agents to slow the bleeding. He has to be in immeasurable pain.
Kieran is fighting with a newfound violence and rage, completely blurring out the conversation behind him as he slashes wildly and swiftly with both of his swords.
Suddenly, Lynet grabs Cael about the face and presses a thumb into his mouth, opening it.
Cael goes to protest but obviously isn't in any position to do so.
Enid watches fearfully, about to protest herself as Lynet pours an ominous and glowing substance through Cael's blueing lips. Before Enid can ask what she's done, Lynet has already rejoined Kieran in fighting off their mysterious foe. She forces her warhammer so deep into the man before her that she has to kick him back off of it before she can continue.
All of the fighting halts when Cael starts glowing. His body is pulled into the air by an invisible force and the hammer slips out of his chest, lashing onto the forest floor.
Everyone looks on, astounded, unsure what has happened. His eyes go alight with a red glow and the blood around his chest plate evaporates. Even the woodland enemy looks on in curiosity.
A beam of light streaks down from the heavens and strikes Cael's levitating body, so that it wavers a little, still suspended in the Fallburne air.
