By morning Enid had licked her wounds and gotten over her irritation with Cael and opted to help him unassemble their camp and gather their things. Kieran was tasked with keeping an eye on Lynet to be sure she didn't kill them all at random. The feral woman made no move to do such and instead took to moving about the skeletal remains of her own camp. Kieran studied her movements. He watched as she moved to one of the fallen corpses and clutched the remains closely to her chest. Ash and dried blood spread across her chest plate but she was unaffected. She held the body close and whispered unintelligible words to them as though to soothe their pain.

Kieran almost thought it a sad sight but he couldn't bring himself to feel any remorse for a woman he didn't know. When she was done hugging the remains, Lynet set herself to returning some dignity to them. She moved each of the corpses to the base of a tree, all near to the others so they could be companions even in death. She wove crowns of flowers and set them atop her comrades' heads and built circles of rocks around them. It was haunting and strange but surely Lynet had her reasons for doing what she was doing and Kieran thought it better not to question it.

She found Sukie's swords and placed them atop her lap so that they crossed. She did the same thing with Botolfe's warhammer. Lynet was remorseful when she realised she could find only one of Alais' daggers but she set it beside the girl regardless and did the same with Fowke and Randoul's weapons. She figured they might miss such belongings in the afterlife. When the quiet ritual was fulfilled, Enid and Cael had gathered all the belongings and they were ready to set off.

As for her own weapon, Lynet found it in a good condition and tucked it into the straps about her back. The trio was weary of keeping a feral and armed woman with them but allowed it.

They pressed on into the depths of Fallburne's forest with no real idea of what would await them.
