Weeks had passed and Jacob didn't changed his mind. And even worse I was hiding from Arthur. It was impossible for me to face him. Was this my punishement?
After a long shift at the medical tent, Dorian walked in. He was the last person I wanted to talk to.
"Hey spy! Fix me up." He demanded after looking around and not finding Jonathan. "Where is Joey anyway?"
"Looking for your brain." I answered smiling sweetly.
He smiled back mocking me and sat down on a chair. He then showed me his arm with a large cut. I took from the shelves bandages and disinfectant. I made it a pleasure to be rough with his arm. Now and then he grunted and I was pleased.
"Be carefull!" Dorian said. "Do you feel better now, after torturing me?" He asked after I was done.
"Weirdly, I needed this." I answered.
"So Amelia sends you?"
I nodded. "She said I need to find help. Do you know what Ezra is doing with her?" I asked carefully.
He shrugged with his shoulders. "I think she is alive. Death is too nice for Ezra."
I don't know if I should be relieved or not. Because knowing she was at Ezra's mercy was not a nice feeling.
"You shouldn't have left Amelia. You should have stayed instead of her."
"I know! Don't you think I regret this decision every second of my life?"
"Good. ecause you don't deserve to be here after what you have done. We could have saved the people of ighland. We could have put an end to him." He said angrily.
"I needed to protect Amelia. You both didn't think this trough. What would you have done with Ezra's sympathizers? Killed them too? And after you killed Ezra, what would you have done?" I ask him.
"I don't know but we would have figure things out." He said annoyed.
"Afterwards?"
"Afterwards."
I scoffed at his stubborness.
"But despite everything I think of you... you are right. I think we should go to Highland and finish with them once and for all." Dorian said.
A shrill alarm rang and Dorian looked at me. "They're back!"
The masked. They were back.
"Darcy you go back to your room and barricade the door." Dorian ordered.
But no I wanted to help. So after Dorian had left I grabbed a small knife. I can do this, I thought.
I walked around and hold the knife up. I must have looked ridicule. What damage could I do with a knife?
I was alone on 2nd floor. Suddenly at the end of the hallway, a masked boy shouted orders. He turned to me and we looked into each other's eyes for a fraction of seconds.
Nicholas. I could recognize those eyes anywhere. My heart was racing.
"Nick!" I called out. He hesitated. It seemed like he wanted to run to me. But he decided against it and ran away. I didn't want to risk losing him a second time so I ran after him.
But he was too fast for me and I lost him. The masked men retreated, leaving the hotel in ruins once again.
Jonathan, I thought. I have to check up on him. So I made my way out to the medical tent.
"Darcy!" yelled Arthur behind me. He ran up to me and hugged me tightly.
"I was so scared when we didn't found you in your room. I went there to check up on you."
I was suprised at his reaction. I pushed him away. "What are you doing?" I asked him. I thought that I made it clear that I can't.
He backed away. "Look, I tried to not think about or see you but it is impossible. You make me crazy because i like you and it's not logical. I am supposed to hate after everything you did. But still I can't..."
After everything I did? "Are you serious? So this is how you confess your love to me?"
He nodded.
"You're such an asshole." I said and ran to the med tent.
Why do I always run away from him?
