Clary POV
My name is Clary Morgenstern. I'm 17 years old and my parents are divorced. No big deal though. They split up when I was 6.
I come from what people call 'golden blood' because my mom is like crazy rich and there's this massive trust fund set up for me once I turn 21. Now she and her fiance Luke live in this huge house in the Hamptons.
That's where I am now. It's where I spend all my weekends, Friday after school til mid day Sunday. The rest of the week is spent with my dad in the city since that's where school is. Right now I'm sitting on a bench swing looking over the ocean.
I close my eyes and lean my head back feeling the ocean breeze. As much as I love the city, I love the Hamptons just as much. After a few minutes I hear my mom yell, "Clarissa! It's time for you to go back to your dad's place!"
I groan softly and stand up. I run across the huge backyard and into the house.
My mom sits at the counter on her laptop. She has curly red hair and emerald green eyes like mine. Today her hair is pulled back in a ponytail and she is wearing a flowy green top and jeans. She looks up and smiles, "Ready to go back to your dad's place?"
"Yeah. Don't get me wrong, I love this place but Dad's loft has a special place in my heart." I grab my bag with my books in it and my keys. "Are you gonna visit Jonathan sometime soon? He's getting anxious and you can't ignore your son forever."
"I'm not ignoring him Clary. I just--I feel like it's my fault he is where he is." She closes her laptop and turns toward me. Looking at her face I can see she's trying not to cry.
Jonathan was born with two holes in his heart. He spent 7 months in the hospital after he was born until he got a transplant. Everything was great until last year when his heart defected and his body started rejecting it. Now he's back in the hospital waiting for another donor.
"It's not your fault Mom. Jon is strong. He'll pull through," I say softly hugging her. I pull away and say, "I should head back to the city. I want to get back by 3. Tell Luke I said bye."
I get in my car and drive. I spend about four hours in the road before I get back into the city. When I pull up to the building my dad lives in, I use my resident card to get into the parking garage.
My dad, Valentine, is different from my mom. He's a lawyer, lives in a two bedroom loft, and never really got over my mom. As I ride up the elevator I get a text from him.
Dad: Getting off late because of new client. Will be back by dinner. Love you.
I step out of the elevator as I respond.
Clary: just getting in now. Wake me up when you get home. ♡
I climb up the ladder which makes the place a loft. When Dad moved here, he took one bedroom, Jon got the other, and I got the loft space with the amazing view of Central Park.
In it is walls filed completely with sketches, shelves full of books, and a bed covered in clothes. I shove the clothes off and climb into bed, about to fall asleep when my phone buzzes again. I check it and see it's from my boyfriend Sebastian.
Seb: Hey babe. You back yet?
Clary: Yeah. Laying in bed right now.
Seb: wanna go to a party tonight?
I hesitate for a second. I'm not sure if I should go. My dad likes to spend time together when I get home on Sundays. I bet he won't mind one Sunday...
Clary: depends on where it is
Seb: Magnus's place. Heard it's gonna be pretty epic
Clary: when aren't his parties epic? I'll be ready to go by 6:30
I get up to start getting ready and text my dad telling him about the party. He doesn't like Sebastian but he tells me I can go.
I go to my closet and pull out a dark green cap sleeved skater dress, some heeled boots, and a black leather jacket. I slip on some compression shorts before I pull the dress on. It hugs the little curves I have making them look amazing. Of course my push up bra helps with that.
I decide to do my hair before I do anything else. I'm feeling lazy today, so I just put it in a messy fishtail braid. I do some light makeup them pull the jacket on. I grab the shoes but don't pull them on yet because I'm obviously not gonna go down ten feet of ladder in heels. Do you think I want to fall on my face?
I sit on the couch and pull my boots on. I look at the clock on my phone and see it's only 6:03. I bite my lip as the temptation takes over.
I walk over to the piano I used to play every waking minute until I was 14. By the time I stopped playing, I was playing Beethoven and Bach. I still love to play, just not as often.
I let my hands fly over the keys to Birdy's version of Skinny Love. I close my eyes as the time flies.
I don't stop playing until I hear the call box buzz. I go over and press the button. "Who is it and what do you want?" I say into it.
"My name is Sebastian and I believe my girlfriend lives in this apartment, thank you very much."
I smile and say, "I'll be down in a minute."
I ride down and see Sebastian standing there. I go over and hug him. "Hey gorgeous. Let's go," he says.

Sebastian and I are dancing on the cramped dance floor and laughing about how rediculous we both probably look. I brush some black hair out of his eyes and see they're almost black. I tense up a little knowing what that means. That's the look that led up to the wrist thing that every happened to me. "Let's go get a drink," I say hoping to distract him.
We walk off the dance floor and are passing a hallway when Sebastian pushes me up against a wall. "Seb, what are you doing?" I ask getting nervous. We still haven't gone "all the way" yet.
"Something I've been thinking about all night," he replies running his hand up my thigh under my compression shorts.
I start freaking out as memories rush back into my head. "Sebastian stop," I say, my voice trembling slightly.
Instead he just starts to kiss my neck. The hand under my dress stats to get higher when Sebastian is pulled away. I'm relived to see Magnus, Jonathan's sparkly best friend, gripping Sebastian by the coat of his shirt. "Why don't you get out of my house before I make you sorry you ever looked at Clary," he says through his teeth.
He pushes Sebastian away who then proceeds to run off. Magnus turns to me and I collapse in his arms in a fit of sobs. He runs his hand over my hair. "It's okay Clare. Let's get you home. Do you think you're stable enough to drive yourself?"
I nod and reply add softly as I can over the noise, "But I cam with Sebastian."
Magnus pulls out his car keys, hands them to me, kisses my forehead, then leads me to his car. I drive and drive then run straight to the loft hoping my dad doesn't notice. I collapse on my bed and fall into a restless sleep.

I sit straight up in bed panting. I quickly grab my sketchbook and a pencil and open to the bookmarked page. I see the Golden Boy on the page.
I dream of him almost every night. I don't even know who he is. I call him the Golden Boy because his hair is golden blond, his eyes are a gold tinted brown, and his skin is goldenly tan. I try to draw him right when I wake up so the image is fresh in my head.
Once I've drawn to my satisfaction I put the sketchpad back on my bedside and fall asleep again.
