Clary POV

Ah movie night. A time when teenagers with no lives can get together and laugh about the latest bs to come from Hollywood. Today, we're seeing San Andreas in the theater then heading back to Jace's house. My dad is watching Cecily and Luca while we're out, so at least I don't have to worry about them.

"I heard they put in these new 'dream lounger' seats in the theater," Simon says as we walk up to get tickets. "Six for San Andreas." We select six seats close to each other then race to the snack bar.

We get two large popcorns, six large sodas, Simon gets Sour Patch Kids, I get Mike and Ikes, Magnus gets Twizzlers, and Jace gets Gobstoppers. Izzy is annoyed that she doesn't't have enough for Dibs but gives up begging for money.

As we walk to the theater, Jace's arm snakes around my waist. He pulls me close and kisses the top of my head. When I look up I see him glaring at a boy around our age staring at me. I laugh and kiss Jace's cheek whispering, "You're cute when you're jealous."

He blushes and we walk into the theater. We take our seats, one row from the top and in the center. I absolutely love the new seats. They're red leather recliners with a movable armrest between them. Jace puts up the armrest and wraps his arm around me. I rest my head on his shoulder as the movie starts.

The entire two hours are filled with smart ass remarks, shunning the spazz aka Daniel, and some profanity here and there. I mean what do you expect? It's a theater full of eighteen and nineteen year olds. We all started laughing hysterically when the cargo ship came over the tsunami. I mean seriously? How could we not!

When the movie is over, I see Isabelle asleep, her head resting on Simon's chest. Magnus and Alec's seat is covered in popcorn and Twizzlers. I raise my eyebrows and Alec just points at Magnus. "He started it!"

I slowly shake my head. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. We can't take you anywhere, can we?"

Jace plays along saying, "I guess we'll have to take away Alec's bow and arrows and Magnus's glitter if that's how they're going to behave."

"Mhmm." I smirk a little as their faces drop.

Magnus drops to his knees and immediately begs for forgiveness. "Please Clary, I'll do anything!"

"We'll see Mags. Now does anyone have to go potty before we leave?" I joke letting the maternal instincts take over. Everyone, even the groggy-from-sleeping Izzy, raises their hands. I sigh a little. "Okay. Make it quick." Everyone laughs and we start towards the bathrooms.

When we get back to the Lightwoods' place, we huddle into the basement. It was recently renovated into 'entertainment central' so a huge TV sits on the wall with a lot of game consoles around it. A couple bookshelves are around the room. We see Max sitting on the couch reading a manga book.

He doesn't realize we've come in, so Alec motions for us to be quiet. He, Jace, and Izzy all creep over unbelievably quietly. I use Izzy's phone to take a video of them creeping behind Max. They all yell out as they grab Max from behind and start messing with his hair and tickling him. Max yelps in surprise and tries to wiggle out of the bear hug he's getting. Magnus, Simon, and I start laughing and walk over to join them.

Simon sits next to Isabelle who has her arm wrapped around Max. I sit in an leather recliner while Jace and Alec argue over Abduction and The Fifth Element. While they bicker, I turn on reruns of Ghost Adventures and Magnus and I talk about random things.

It's the episode where they have their second lock down in the Goldfield Hotel. When they go to the clown motel I shrink back in my chair due to my 'illogical' fear of clowns. When the camera shows the clown in the driver's seat and I jump and yelp yelling, "HOLY SH*T! WHO THE FR*CK WOULD DO THAT!?"

Isabelle is staring at me in disbelief. "There is a child here ya know," she says laughing slightly as she covers Max's ears.

"I've heard swears before ya know. Even said a few," he says then mutters, "I'm eleven, not a baby," causing Isabelle to stare in even more disbelief. Max shrugs and goes back to his reading.

"Where did we go wrong with our baby brother, boys?" Izzy asks as Jace puts Abduction in.

"What!? Alec how did you lose with cinematic gold like The Fifth Element!?" I ask as Alec sits on the couch. The Fifth Element is one of my favorite movies so I was hoping it would win.

"Because us nerds are extremely outnumbered. Awesome, but outnumbered," Alec states putting his fist out towards me.

I fist bump him saying, "You got that right." Jace pulls me out of the seat, sits down, and pulls me onto his lap. I pretend to be mad at him as the movie starts.

"Great. Now I've angered all the nerds in the room," Jace says as he tries to look at me but I turn away.

"Yeah you have," I mumble smiling slightly. Jace kisses my cheek and I watch the movie. I'm trapped in his lap by his arms around my waist, but I don't mind. I actually like the secure feeling.

When Nathan's parents die, I tear up a little remembering Jon. It's been a couple weeks, but I still have moments where I think about him and can't get him out of my head.

I push the tears away and focus on the movie. As the movie goes on, I start to drift off. I'm almost asleep when yelling comes from upstairs. All the Lightwood children seem slightly phased by this, but not much. I look at Jace and ask with my eyes, 'Is this what you were talking about?'

He nods slightly and looks back at the movie. Jace told me last week how Maryse and Robert have been fighting a lot. Alec is pretty sure they're going to get a divorce. I know what it's like, even if I was five when the fighting started. My mind is suddenly flooded with memories of with sneaking into Jonathan's room during the night. Of cuddling in bed with him while they yelled at each other. Of crying when Mom shouted she was done and slammed the front door as she left and running into Dad's arms out of fright.

Isabelle, Alec, and Jace may all be eighteen or older, but Max would get caught up in a custody battle. I don't want him to go through what Jon and I went through. The months of arguing over who got who before the judge finally asked us what we wanted.

When the movie ends I start to drive home. It's almost midnight when I get home, so I go to the nursery to check on the twins. They're both asleep, grabbing each other's little hands. I smile and kiss their foreheads.

When I go back to the living room my dad is there asleep on the couch. There are case files spread over the coffee table and I know better than to touch them. I simply grab a blanket and cover him in it. I'm about to head up to the loft when I see the name of the case: Divorce of Robert and Maryse Lightwood.

I'm almost shocked that my dad is representing one of Jace's parents until I remember that Robert and my dad work together. I decide to tell Jace tomorrow when we go to the beach with the kids. They're all expecting it, so maybe it will be easier for me to tell him.
