Before I met You

Prologue

"Go ahead, beat me " he said " am not going to stop you, hit me punch me do all you want" he  said. She looked at him helplessly as she slowly lowered her hand. At that moment, she felt all her energy being drained out of her. She sat down on the chair closest to her and it turned out to be the one in the wall . Nathan sat on the desk opposite her and looked at her. She looked so fragile in her current state. The tough demeanor she had a few minutes back had disappeared. She was fiddling with her fingers nervously with her head down trying so hard to control the tears that were threatening to fall anytime. Suddenly, she felt a touch on her lower chin . She could identify that touch anywhere because of the way it made her feel. The sparks that always erupted on her skin even with the slightest body contact. The touch that belonged to him. He was trying to make her look at him by lifting her face . She slowly lifted her eyes from her fingers and looked into his electrifying blue eyes. He was the person making her look like this, the person making her go through this pain. She felt tears threatening to fall so she blinked her eyes rapidly as she averted her gaze. Nathan on the other hand was heartbroken. She couldn't even look at him in the eyes. 'Does she hate me that much? ' the thought ' Am I that awful? ' . Never in his life had he felt so helpless . I mean he had it all, from looks to money and never did he think that a girl would make him feel like this. He gently placed his hand on her nervous hands . " There is this girl that I like" he said with a hoarse voice. He looked rather distant with pain evident in his eyes . Elaine on the other hand was hurt . Who wouldn't be hurt when the person you like likes someone else? She remained silent as she waited for him to continue and he did. " She's an exception from all the other girls, she cares about about other people's happiness but not her own. She hides her pain. To think of it , I don't think I have ever seen her smile genuinely" he paused . The pain he felt couldn't allow him to continue. But that's when realization hit her . She knew that girl . She could read that girl like a book . She knew the girl he liked because she had lived with her  for the past five years. She infact knew the pain that girl feels because she feels it too. She knew the girl didn't know Ethan liked her that's why she didn't show it. The girl has a reason as to why she acts hard and doesn't genuinely smile. She knew that girl so well because that girl was her. She lifted her gaze from her fingers to Nathan who was still talking about "the girl". For the first time, she saw the 'school rebel' or ' the bad boy ' sad . He was actually sad because of her , a common girl with nothing that could put her on his status. " I wanna make her smile again" Nathan said pulling her out of her trance . She didn't even realize that he was talking all this while. "I want her to genuinely smile for me" he said locking eyes with her .His eyes looking as gentle as ever. " Do you think she will let me bring back her smile?" he asked making Elaine's heart to skip a beat cause of the way he looked at her .
