the nighttime is supposed to be a paradise to those who enjoyed basking in the secrets that lurk in the shadows of the city. people who enjoy drinking and staying out all day, or people who'd rather stay overtime in work rather than to come home to an empty apartment or a drifting partner.

the nighttime is also a good time for those with good imaginations.

your head laying down on that soft, comfortable pillow as your body is encased in the warmest of blankets out there to ever exist- a good dream always follows after that. a dream that would bring a subconscious smile to your face even if you're deep inside of your own mind, something that you'd also forget the moment that the sun rises.

the night is supposed to be a time where people can relax.

however, in the case of hitto y/n, her night is far from relaxing.

sweat coated her forehead as her (h/c) colored hair stuck onto her skin, breath ragged as her eyes scrunched tight- she's having another nightmare.

this scenery is quite different from her usual dreams, people wearing coats of red and black fought around her as she's seen to be standing in the middle of an ongoing fight. how'd she even get here? she never watched any violence before going to bed, y/n hoped that she would've at least dreamed about that hot vampire dude that she saw.

confusion filled her mind, vision blurry as she tried to make out why they're fighting and prayed that she wouldn't get hit.

then, a loud bang made her jolt, immediately looking behind her to see people standing in the middle of a clear space. someone is seen standing in front of two figures, hand holding something- maybe it's a gun that caused that loud bang.

(e/c) eyes widened when one of the people in front of the one holding a gun fell, blood pooling around them as her feet immediately started making their way towards them as if she has the ability to heal the guy in her literal dreams.

as her feet took her closer and closer to the area of the incident, that's when her vision started to clear out, confusing her by the time that she made it towards the figures.

never has she wanted to wake up so desperately than now.

hitto kakucho and kurokawa izana are seen to be laying down on the ground with bullet holes littering their bodies, sending waves of shock and grief into her body that just... felt so real. she's aware that it's all but a mere dream- but the sight in front of her is so realistic that she can almost feel her heart burst.

air- that's what she needed.

jolting up from her bed, y/n frantically looked around to make sure that she's safe and none of those happened- sweat dripping from her forehead as her heart thumped loudly on her chest.

she'd had nightmares before. dreaming about the night of the car accident, or about a fucking ghost chasing after her. and even if she's deadly afraid of the apparitions that may or may not be real, nothing scared her half to death than the one that she had just now.

surely, there's got to be a meaning to the one that she saw in her dreams.

"heh... that's just a fucking nightmare... nothing else." she muttered to herself, wiping her hair away from her forehead as she tried to regain her breathing, calming her heart down as her eyes trailed out of her window- the moon looks abnormally big tonight.

yeah, just a nightmare.

thoughts started to swarm her head as she tried to make some sense of her dream, knowing full well than to take it lightly.

she's had a handful of dreams before where she'd only shrug it off as a joke, then regret it a week later when the news about her teacher getting hit by a car reached her- the same event that she saw in her dream a week before.

it was too realistic to be fake.

y/n was snapped out of her daydreaming when she heard voices coming from outside, quietly getting out of her bed and making her way towards her window, making sure to stay out of sight just in case they're robbers.

their volume is too low for her to completely understand, but she knew who those voices belong to.

"our fight is in two days, make sure to take your sister along with you."

"she isn't supposed to be involved in this, izana- she was never supposed to be in the fucking fight. so stop making me try and convince her into going. she's going to leave in four days, i'll make her leave before the fight starts."

"you know it yourself that we need your sister- she has the brain to know what to do."

"enough is enough. i'll see you on the day before our showdown with toman, have a good night, boss."

ah, how can she be so naive about what's happening around her.

that's right, izana is leading tenjiku to a showdown with the tokyo manji gang... fuck.

she's been around the leader himself the past few days, how can she forget about the simple fact that he and her brother are about to participate in a fight that will declare who would come out to the top- knowing kurokawa izana's desire to take his step-brother down.

then... it suddenly clicked.

normally, the 'visions' that she has would always include her in the setting, that's how she knows if it'll come true or not. but because she had lived her life telling herself that they were just mere coincidences, she never did anything about it.

that explains why she's in the pier amongst the sea of black and red- izana took her to the fight with them.

y/n doesn't know whether to be angry at him or just kill him with her own hands before he'll even drag her towards the fight, because being included in it will have its pros as well- knowing what will happen to her brother and the tan-skinned male.

but at the same time... she's scared for her own life.

as selfish as it may sound, everyone values their own life first before valuing others. it just takes one, near-death experience for the person to disvalue their own and focus on others instead.

(e/c) eyes trailed themselves on her doorway, making eye contact with her brother who gave her a look of confusion. she's lucky that she made it to her bed before he even made his way to her room, or else he'll find out that she's actually eavesdropping.

"y/n, why are you still awake?" kakucho asked, leaning on her doorframe as the eighteen year old chuckled, waving him off as she wiped the remaining sweat off her forehead.

"just a nightmare, i'm good now. why're you home so late?" her question made the raven haired boy to look down with an unreadable look on his face, y/n already knowing the answer to that.

"the boss just wrapped our final plans for the twenty-second. you should go back to sleep, aren't you meeting up with izana tomorrow?" the (h/c) haired girl nodded, settling into her bed as she waved her brother away.

there are times when the oldest would act like the youngest, and the youngest would act like the oldest- and one of them is right now.

hitto kakucho gave her a smile, walking out as he was about to close the door when y/n called out to him one last time.

"kaku... do you want to join me up in hokkaido on the twenty-second?" as much as she wanted to be there on the battlefield with them, it hasn't happened yet, giving her a chance to fix everything before the unlikely will happen.

as long as it hasn't happened yet and as long as she acts now, all will fix itself.

her younger brother paused in his steps, silence falling down on the two as y/n waited for her reply.

the male turned around, giving her a smile and a thumbs-up as he nodded- but that didn't calm the (h/c) haired girl down, knowing full well that he isn't being genuine.

"sure. it'll be nice to see a new scenery for once."

she has two more days to fix this- two more days to fix the unwanted fate of her brother and servant.

in two days, she'll fix everything.
