Dinner Time

Almost immediately after he had sent her a text message he regreted it. Desperate much, Xavier? He silently thought to himself as he moved the last books back onto their bookshelf. He had decided that he would not live on Campus this semester and rather stayed in his shed only a few minutes' walk away. After all that had happened in the last semester, he enjoyed the solitude. Turning into Wednesday now, are we? Was his next thought, as he looked over to the painting. His favorite painting. He had painted it the night of the Rave'N when he couldn't forget about Wednesday. He had painted her playing the cello. After the accusations he had torn a corner of it off in anger. Anger that she really believed he could have been the Hide and for getting him arrested. He had been angry, but he had also just been disappointed. He had really thought she trusted him or at least seen him as a friend. The rest of the painting had been framed in a golden frame and put up on the wall above his desk. Xavier had bought a simple black double bed and a small wardrobe, which he had moved into the shed, to make it a bit more homely. The other half of the shed had his desk and his artistic utensils.

A quick glance to the clock told him that it was almost time for dinner, he quickly grabbed a black hoodie and through it over his clothes. He checked his phone just before he left the shed, but was hit with a feeling of disappointment, as he had not received any messages from Wednesday. Maybe she hadn't come back after all. Maybe she had decided that Nevermore wasn't the right place for her. Xavier pulled slightly on the sleeves of his hoodie, almost as if he was nervous. Nervous about what? Seeing Wednesday again? Or the fact that he might not see her again? He sighed and walked over to the Campus, where he already saw Ajax sitting in the courtyard, waving at him. Xaviers face lit up and waved at his friend. Ajax however wasn't sitting alone, by his side sat Enid. The two of them made a great couple. He smiled at the thought of it. Than to his surprise, he saw another figure sitting opposite of the couple. A petite girl, dressed in black, with hair as black as the feathers of a raven. His heart skipped a beat. She had come back! The excitement of seeing her caused his face to lit up even more and he was scared she'd notice. Xavier walked over to the small group of friends and sat down beside Wednesday.

"So, you did decide to come back after all." He leaned closer to her as he said those words and he wished he could have given her hug, but no one dared to just hug Wednesday Addams. Except for Enid maybe. Xavier rather didn't risk breaking the small bond of friendship that had developed between him and the goth girl.

"Yes, I did. It was a long internal debate, however I came to the conclusion that this school does indeed need me. I might have to save it another time, who knows." She said in her usual monotone way and Xavier laughed slightly.

"And you're sure you didn't come back because you've missed the school? Or me?" Almost instantly he regretted what he had just said and he cursed himself. He knew better than to tease the girl next to him.

"I am 99.9% certain." She said and Xavier smirked. "So 0.01% of you did miss me a little bit then. I can live with that. That is more than I expected." Wednesday just glared at him, but he did think that he saw a slight smile on her lips for a few seconds. That was all he needed. All he needed to make his heart flutter and he was thankful for Ajax who interrupted the conversation.

"So Xav, what have you been up to during the holidays?" He asked and Xavier slightly raised his shoulders.

"Not a lot, I had the house to myself most of the time. I've finished some paintings and just spent some time on my own." The whole time that he was speaking, he could feel Wednesday watching him.

"It's not that interesting, Wednesday." He laughed slightly and looked over to the girl, that now just glared at him again and looked elsewhere.
