Lady Kathrine and Clara walked down the hallways lit with torches until they reached the ballroom. The room was big, really big. Glazed wooden floors, and 2 thrones on a platform. A large glass chandelier hung from the ceiling. The windows depicted stories of past heroes and princesses.
"Now Clara, I'm going to talk with my cousin, then a few boys and flirt. I'll come get you when I'm ready to leave."
"Yes ma'am."
Clara walked over to the food table, hoping to eat something sweet, perhaps a cookie.
"Who are you?" A voice asked behind her, the sudden question made her jump. She turned around and was met with a boy that looked around her age. He had dark brown floppy hair with brown eyes to match. He wore a white button down shirt and tan trousers. "Some sort of foreign princess?" He asked again.
"A maid." Clara answered, not sure what to say.
"Ya don't look like one, who are you serving?" The mystery boy asked.
"Lady Kathrine, and by the way, who are you?" Clara asked, placing her hands on her waist.
"Oh, just a lowly apprentice. The apprentice to Purah and Robbie!" The boy shouted, waving his arms around.
"Hm, are you sure, a Hylian working with a Sheikah? Aren't they super smart, and Hylians are below them in intelligence. So, I think you're lying."
"Hey, are you calling me stupid?!" He shouted, mocking her by putting his hands on his waist. "I was just the only one that applied for the job." He huffed.
"Makes sense, so mystery boy, you got a name?" Clara asked, running her fingers through her hair.
''Knew you were gonna ask that." He then held out his hand, "Milo."
Clara then placed her hand into his and shook it. "Clara," She smiled. A loud ding interrupted their handshake. When they turned around, They saw the King standing on the platform, holding a glass. Below, but right in front of him stood one Goron, Gerudo, Zora, and Rito, along with the princess and the princess's royal guard, Link.
"Come on!" Milo whispered, tugging Clara ahead.
As they got closer, they heard the King talking about the upcoming Calamity and the Champions that will stop it. He introduced each champion by name and race.
"Mipha, The Zora Champion."
"Urbosa, The Gerudo Champion."
"Revali, The Rito Champion."
"Daruk, The Goron Champion."
After the speech, the ballroom was livelier than ever. Milo even introduced her to Robbie and Purah. Right as she was talking to Rito champion, Kathrine came up to her with a man.
"Lara," She started, she sounded a bit tipsy. " Don't bother coming to my room tonight, just meet me tomorrow at nine in my room please."
"Yes ma'am."
When she turned around again, The champion was gone and Milo had replaced him.
"Clara! Follow me! I have got to show you something!" He smiled, grabbing Clara's arm and pulling her towards the door. Milo ran through the halls as Clara struggled to keep up with him. Clara decided to take off her shoes, and just run in her stockings.
When the two made it outside, the cold breeze hit their faces.
"Milo!" He quickly stopped and turned around, clearly out of breath. "Where the hell are you taking me?" Clara laughed.
"Somewhere really cool! Now stop asking questions!" He laughed and then started running again.
Eventually, they reached the room Milo was looking for. It was the Castles Lab.
"Milo, are we allowed to be here?" Clara asked, looking at the beakers filled with strange liquids.
"I work here! If we get caught we'll just say I forgot something, and brought you with me!" Milo laughed. "Now... Look. At. This!" He smiled, holding up a strange object. It was small enough to be held in your hands and had the Sheikah symbol on the back.
"What is that?"
"It's called a Sheikah Slate, and look what it can do!" Will suddenly held it up in front of Clara and then pressed a button. He then showed her.
"Woah... How am I in the Slate?" Clara gasped, grabbing the Slate but quickly giving it back to Milo.
As Milo was walking it back to its box, he stopped in his tracks.
"Milo? What's the mat-" Clara was cut off by an arm tugging her under a table.
"Shhhh.... There is someone here..."
In the next few seconds, two pairs of footsteps were heard entering the room. As the two hid under the table, they saw two people with dark red shoes pass them.
"Yiga." Will whispered, "we have to warn the others!" Slowly and quietly, Milo stood up and grabbed a glass beaker and threw it across the room. It distracted the two Yiga soldiers. As the two bolted out of the room. Once they were far enough away they stopped to catch their breath.
"Clara, you need to get outta here. Now."
"Why?"
"Because, they'll want you more than me! Now go!"
"And why is that?" She asked, her breath shaky.
"Because you're," he took a quick pause, as if he was debating saying something, "a girl."
Quickly, the realization hit her and in a flash, Clara was gone, and Milo was left alone.
Quickly, she ran down the halls, lifting her skirt as she ran. As she neared the ball room and passed her forsaken shoes, she felt a strange feeling. Guilt, so mustering up the courage, she ran back to the clock.
Milo wasn't there.
"Milo?" Called Clara as she turned the corner. "Milo. This isn't funny, just co-" She stopped dead in her tracks.
Milo was kneeling on the ground as two Yiga surrounded him. One holding a Vicious Sickle around Will's neck, the other pointing an arrow at Clara's head.
"Ah, we have been waiting for you, fair lady." The bigger one cooed. "Are you the one he fancies?" He asked
Not hearing any of it because her thoughts ran wild thinking about Milo. Thinking quickly, Maria fell to her knees, holding her hands in the air to show she wasn't armed. She locked eyes with Milo, who silently shook his head.
"Please. Just let him go, and we won't say a word. To anyone." Clara promised, fearing what would happen if she didn't say that.
The two guards exchanged glances, and the one lowered his bow.
"Fine, but if we find out you did tell anyone, you'll be in big trouble. And we WILL always find out. We have eyes and ears everywhere." One explained right before he disappeared, leaving small red papers with the Yiga symbol on it. As soon as they left, the sickle fell to the ground and Milo fell onto his side. Clara ran to his side.
"Milo! Are you alright?" Clara shook him.
He turned onto his back and gave her a cheeky smile. Clara breathed a sigh of relief.
"Milo. Are you hurt? Should I call someone? Robbie? Purah?"
"I'm fine, m'lady." He smirked trying to stand up. Clara grabbed his arm and yanked him up.
"You're shaking, are you sure you're alright?" Clara asked again, holding him up.
"Clara, no need to worry, I'm fine."
"Good. " She smiled, returning his cheeky smile.
