Sophie poked at the weird, green, spiky looking ball she randomly chose at Foxfire's cafeteria's impossibly long line of interesting food varieties. Not knowing what she was eating made it very hard to be interested in digesting any Elvin food. Or maybe the queasiness was due more to the fact that her next lesson was Telepathy. Which she had with an impossibility cute elf named Fitz Vacker, whom she had a crush on since the day they met.
Lost in her own thoughts, Sophie didn't realize someone was calling her name. "Hey, Sophie! Sophie? Sophie! Hello? Are you even listening right now? SOPHIE!" Sophie's head snapped up and she realized that it was Biana Vacker, Fitz's sister, who was calling her name.
Looking like a model with her chocolate brown hair and gorgeous teal eyes, Sophie wished she was nearly as pretty as her. Maybe Sophie would then have a tiny chance of having Fitz like her back.
"Sorry," Sophie said, "What were you saying?" Biana rolled her teal eyes and sighed, "Can't you just not zone out for literally like five minutes? Anyway, are you doing anything during the Midterm break?"
Sophie shook her head.
"Great! Then you can come over too! Tam, Linh, Wylie, Keefe, and Marella are all coming over for the entire break! It's gonna be the best sleepover ever!"
Sophie was beginning to get overwhelmed. "Okay, wait. First, I need to ask Grady and Edaline. Second, the entire break!?" Now Biana was grinning. "Yup!"
"What about Dex? Isn't he going?"
"Nope! I have to babysit the triplets and help out at Slurps and Burps," Dex announced, making Sophie jump. She didn't realize he was sitting right next to her.
Tam Song snickered and Sophie shot a glare at his silvery blue eyes, which were hidden underneath jagged black bangs with sliver edges.
"Thank goodness, too," Dex continued, ignoring Tam. "Then Biana can't give me a makeover."
Sophie groaned and Biana scowled. "Meet us at Everglen tonight after school, Sophie." Biana chirped, quickly getting over the comments. "Don't be late!" With that, the bell rang and everyone stood up to go to lessons.
Dread pooled in Sophie's stomach as she trudged to her locker. She ignored the taste of mallowmalt that coated her tongue as she licked her locker's DNA strip. Quickly stuffing her Cognate lesson book into her satchel, Sophie ducked her head and walked away to her lesson room.
Not seeing where she was going, she bumped into someone and crashed to the floor. Books, paper, and pencils flew out of her satchel. Then she heard a high wheezy sicker.
"Can't see where your going, Sophie?" Stina Heks mocked. Her giggly minions kicked Sophie's stuff father away as she tried and failed to reclaim her stuff.
"Come on," Stina grinned, "Show everyone how lame you are. Are your some kind of super powerful elf or are you just a freak?"
That last word made Sophie want to punch Stina's head so hard it would come flying off her beanpole body.
Not knowing what to do, Sophie used telekinesis to quickly grab all her stuff, shove them into her bag, and walk away.
"Ooh, afraid are you?" Stina snarled, blocking her way.
"Less afraid then you!" Sophie finally snapped, unable to bite her tongue any longer. "At least I don't look like I'm a giant hairy lollipop."
Stina growled and shoved Sophie to the floor. "Not another word from you, freak." Stina said before she and her minions stalked away.
Sophie slipped as she tried to stand up and her head collied painfully against the wall.
"Sophie! Are you okay?" A crisp accent asked.
Uh oh.
That could only mean one person.
Fitz.
Hey, guys! Three things I want to say:
One, no hateful or mean comments please! (Directed at either the story, me, anyone else, or all of the above counts!)
Two, this is my first story, so please: If I made any grammar or spelling error, please let me know!
And three, I absolutely love drama!
I'm so excited that my first chapter got 684 words! Yay!
Thanks for sticking around and reading my extremely boring and lame words!
Love ya!
