Sophie was a pretty good lier, Keefe had to admit, and had everyone fooled when she said she was fine.
But she couldn't lie to an Empath.
Keefe looked at Sophie and felt her overwhelming emotions. A bit of happiness (not a surprise, she's sitting next to Captain Perfect. But...whatever), a bit more (hehe, a lie; a LOT more) than her regular stress amount, and a tsunami of anger and heartbreak.
The enormous wave of emotions hit Keefe harder than he expected and he blocked them out before he was consumed.
Keefe's eyes trailed again to the girl sitting beside him. Marella twirled one of her tiny braids and glanced at him. Keefe tried not to make his heart skip a little; he still remembered the pain from last time...
"Okay, everyone! Enough sitting around," Keefe announced loudly, needing to stop thinking about things he really wish he wasn't thinking about. "Let's go do something. My good looks are seriously getting wasted here in Everglen." Keefe smirked at the youngest Vacker's slightly hurt expression. "How about we go to Atlantis? Nope! Sorry, Biana! Not going shopping for 24 hours today, thank you every much!" Keefe said, noticing that Biana's delighted face collapse into a scowl.
"I'm just-uh-going to stay at here, if that's okay," Sophie said. "I don't really want to dress fancy and jump in a whirlpool."
Keefe raised an eyebrow when he sensed a small twang of guilt from the moonlark.
Sophie shifted uncomfortably. "Okay," Marella said. "Sophie will stay at Everglen WITHOUT her overprotective boyfriend and the rest of us will go to Remi's Record."
Keefe's face brightened as Fitz's face fell.
Remi's Record was the best. Basically a huge park with plenty of things to do. Amazingly fun rides that don't give you a sick stomach and don't practically kill you right away; like those weird human rides.
-Time Skip-
"I don't know why Foster would ever skip a chance to come here," Keefe mused as they leaped to an amusement park made entirely out of crystals. "Let's make this interesting, shall we?" Keefe said, rubbing his hands together. "Whoever can stay on The Crystal Kelpies the longest wins. Ready? Go!"
Keefe laughed at the chorus of groans and ran to his favorite ride-The Crystal Kelpie. Ten kelpies made of blue crystals were already ready to be rode on and flew. Yes, flew. The kelpies would zoom into the air as soon as someone was on and wouldn't come down until it was the last in the air. There was a safety mat on the ground in case someone fell of the kelpies when they did dangerously fun loops and tricks in the air. The code word for the crystal kelpies to land was water and everyone knew; yet Keefe has know nobody to say it.
Keefe hopped on the nearest kelpie and raced to the sky.
A few hours later Keefe was sure he had won so he stood up on the kelpie's back (despite the many screams of the elves below), grinned, and jumped.
The safety mat felt like a giant marshmallow; and tasted like one too! Keefe had a whole handful of the mat when he stepped back on sold ground.
"Where's Tam?" Biana asked anxiously, scanning the sky. "What do you mean?" Keefe responded. "I thought I won the ga—oh you stinkin cheater!" Tam suddenly dropped out of the sky, hidden from sight inside the shadows.
"Bangs Boy, you're gonna pay," Keefe growled at the Shade's smug face.
"We should get back," Fitz said, apparently also just noticing the now darkening sky.
"Man, I kinda wanted to ride the new Twin Alicorn ride they just added," Marella mumbled, glancing again at Keefe. "But it needs to people in a seat to ride."
"I'll stay with you if you really want to ride Twin Alicorn," Keefe quickly offered. "I mean-it's kinda lame though," he quickly said at Lihn and Wylie's interesting emotions.
"Really? Thanks! Let's go!" Marella squealed, pulling Keefe by the arm towards the biggest ride in the park.
"See you guys later!" Wylie called, waving with one arm and holding a leaping crystal to the fading light.
The Twin Alicorn was a like a huge (what do humans call it? Oh-right!) Ferris wheel.
"Come on, Keefe!" Marella urged, already climbing into a seat specially made for two. STOP! GETTING! EXCITED! FOR! REASONS! TOTALLY! UNKNOWN! Keefe screamed mentally at himself.
The ride was amazing. The wheel took them really high-even higher than The Crystal Keplie ride did.
As soon as they reached a certain point, the cart detached from the wheel and Keefe and Marella were just sitting in a cart together with their legs dangling into empty air.
Marella was giving such strong emotions of nervousness, shyness, and eagerness that Keefe stared at her quizzically.
Marella gave a shy smile and opened her hand. A floating flame appeared above her palm. The orange-yellow-red ball of fire glowed brightly in the now dark night. The flame twisted into a...
...heart.
"I don't know how to say this, Keefe," Marella whispered. "But...I hope this explains enough." She stared at the glowing fire heart before closing her fist, extinguishing the flame.
Keefe answered by cupping a hand on her face and pulling Marella so close to his face that their noses almost touched.
He paused only long enough to look her in the eye before pressing his lips to her's.
Keefe felt Marella's surprise and delight as she put both her hands on his face, pulling him closer. Keefe wrapped his other arm around her waist, smiling into their kiss.
They finally broke apart for breath and Marella closed her eyes and laid her head on Keefe's shoulder. Keefe tightened his arm around her waist and rested his own head on her's.
Keefe's looked up at the many stars blinking and flickering in the night sky.
"Thank you," he whispered quietly. Marella didn't make any motion to that she heard him, for she had already fell asleep.
Hey guys!
So sorry I haven't updated—I have been VERY BUSY. I know like 99% of you guys have been probably VERY ANGERY at me and, I repeat, I am VERY SORRY.
Anyway, it might take me a while to update again and please comment if you want something specific to happen.
I know that you guys are ALSO pretty mad at me because Sophie and Fitz haven't kissed yet and my plan Is to have all my couples kiss before the lovebirds. This is because Sophie is still a little hesitant at this whole "dating thing" and cause Fitz is such a good boyfriend (even with his issues) he doesn't push it. I feel as though this fits Sophie and Fitz characters better.
The next couple on the list is Lihn and Wylie so keep checking daily!
Love ya,
