Carefully, you let yourself sink to the ground, rifle pressed to your chest and slid down the hill to get to the road below.
You let a few moments pass before you dared to take a step out of the safe shadows and into the street lights of the road that bordered right on the property.
Calm steps followed you.
Gaz was supposed to check out everything that was needed to guarantee a safe mission.
Alejandro just came as reinforcement. And probably also as backup in case your Spanish skills would fail to get the job done.
Your back hit the huge wall that kept you from storming El Sin Nombres place.
Carefully, you patted two fingers against the rough surface to get a sound.
Just like you had thought, or rather feared, the wall was too thick to just get through. It seemed like it was indeed made of concrete, but it was hard to tell if a layer of steel waited inside as a extra surprise.
Annoyed, you curled your lips.
So the only way to get to the other side was to climb.
That made things a bit more difficult since no one of the team knew what exactly waited on the other side.
Narcos were a nasty kind of people. You wouldn't have been surprised if there was a mine field on the other side.
It would have been of use to get some insight before taking the risk.
Your eyes wandered along the street, all the way down to one of the street lights.
A power box hung on it, just about high enough to be out of reach.
With a gesture, you told Gaz about it.
He joined your side.
"We couldn't get up there without being seen.", he whispered.
Your eyes remained glued to it for a moment.
"I'm not that bad of a climber.", you said and threw a glance upwards again to check if nobody happened to look down on your group. "If I reach it and plant a bug, would you be able to get into their internet?"
Gaz let a soft sound be heard.
"I have basic skills, this sounds a little out of my range."
You smirked.
"I'm not an expert either. Think we could give it a shot? Together, we might figure it out."
"If this fails, they'll know we're here.", Alejandro reminded you. "Just like Valeria, we cannot afford risks."
"Then we have to.", you gifted him a smirk and gestured with your head towards Gaz to get him going.
"100, how copy?", Price's voice filled your ears. "You're moving away from the target area."
"Sorry captain, we need to do some extra work."
"Hope you know what you're doing.", Ghost chipped in. "There's movement on the other side of the wall."
Pulling a face, you stopped underneath the power box and pointed up.
Gaz checked out the street before confirming with a nod that the path was clear.
With both hands folded, he offered to push you up so that you could reach the target.
Your nails dug into the wood, through the fabric of your gloves, to find some grip on the street light.
In one swift movement you pulled out your knife and jammed the tip into the small gap between power box and its door.
There was a lock. It screamed in prostest a few times, before a small cracking sound reached your ears and it fell to pieces.
"Bingo...", you hummed and reached down to take the adapter that Gaz kept ready. "I assume you know what cable would be of use."
"Red's always good.", he took a step back to be able to look inside the box and follow your hands. "I can see one for electricity."
"We should cut that last. Otherwise they'll be alarmed before we're ready."
"Take yellow then. Should cut their landlines."
"Don't you think that'll give it away too?"
"We can put it back in.", he threw a glance over to Alejandro. "We just need to plant a bug."
You hummed, grabbed the cable as careful as you could and pulled it out with gentle force.
"Good choice, Gaz.", you placed a small plastic device between the plug of the cable and the connector. "Green light. Bug's in place."
"Holy shit, 100.", he mumbled and threw a glance through his visor to get a good look. "I've seen specialists need more time than that. You must be good at anything."
A small chuckle made you almost loose your grip.
"They don't call me 100 for nothing.", you put everything back into place. "Alright, what next?"
"Electricity for last.", he insisted.
You nodded.
"Electricity for last. What else do we have?"
"Maybe we could open the gate by cutting the power for a moment and then turning it on again. Most modern devices have a flaw like that."
"We could try. But that would also mean the lights go out inside."
"Could happen to the best neighbourhoods."
"And if we cut power entirely?"
Gaz threw another glance down the road, this time towards the other side though, right where Alejandro waited at the gate.
"If we kill power it will emergency lock.", Gaz shook his head.
"No way in, only a way out.", you hummed.
"100.", Ghost's voice returned to your head. "Movements behind the wall. They are getting closer."
Your eyes jumped over your shoulder.
From the level you were on you could see shadows move through the dark.
You barely managed to see past the walls, but from that angle you knew that a bullet could have taken you out.
"Alejandro, how good can you climb?", you asked over the coms.
"I'm alright.", he answered, audibly on edge.
"Are you geared up?"
"Si."
You threw a glance down.
"What about you, Gaz?", you asked.
"Got my rope and hook.", he patted the gear that was secured on his shoulder. "Ready when you are."
"Alright.", you returned your attention to the power box. "Everyone, get ready. We got no time to open the gate. I'm cutting the power."
"Roger that, 100.", Ghost confirmed from afar. "Ready when you are."
You grabbed the cable for electricity.
"Team, going dark.", you pulled it out. "Now."
