As the weeks progressed, both Y/N and Lizzie found themselves spending more and more time together. Y/N learned more about Lizzie than what you would find on Google. She even spent the weekends with him gardening. He even shown her his own vegetable garden.
"Wow." She breathed as she walked in his back garden. "This is bigger than my own back in LA." She told him. He just watched her as she walked through the garden.
"I like to grow my own produce for here and the restaurant." He told her sheepishly. "I even have one at the restaurant."
"How do you do it all?" She asked him.
"I have some of the employees help with the one at the restaurant." He shrugged. "We all find it very therapeutic."
"Me too." She smiled at him. "It's calming after a long day of interviews."
"I couldn't do what you do." He told her as she looked at him. "Besides my acting skills being none existent. The constant people wanting to have pictures with you. Talk with you. I just find it exhausting just thinking about it. Even talking about it with Tom is exhausting."
"I enjoy the acting and the fans. Some of them are considerate and don't shove things in my face." She told him. "I have seen my sisters grow up in the lime light from a very young age and I hate what it done to them. So I almost gave up on acting."
"What made you continue to persue it?" He asked her as they walked back inside to his kitchen as he popped the kettle on.
"It was a dream of mine and I didn't want the bad that comes with it to outweigh the bad so I decided to just do school and college and then I got my first lead role in college." She spoke proudly as she watched him make some tea.
"I only have Yorkshire tea." He told her as he handed her a cup as she smiled at him.
"That's perfect. Thank you." She hummed as she smelt the tea before taking a small sip. Humming at the taste. "What made you want to open your own restaurant?" She asked him as he started to prepare some vegetables to make a chicken pot pie.
"I have always loved cooking." He said thoughtfully. "My grandmother taught me how to cook when I was 10 and I fell in love. Everytime I would visit her, we would cook a new recipe together. We didn't care whether or not we botched it. We just had fun together. And then when she passed I kind of strayed away from cooking. I done somethings she wouldn't be proud of but when I got clean. I opened up my restaurant."
Lizzie didn't know what to say as he made the chicken broth for the pot pie.
"A lot of people usually don't know what to say." He said as he turned to face her. "My grandparents were my idols. My safe place and when they both passed I lost that. So I lost it." He shrugged as he turned back around. "Shit happens right." He chuckled in hopes of easing the tension.
"I think you're strong for overcoming everything you have." She told him as she stepped beside him. "It's actually refreshing to actually spend time with someone who never grew up with their parents expectations." He clenched his jaw at the last statement before he went to the pantry to get out the ingredients for the shortcrust pastry.
"Why don't you go and relax. Pop on a show while I finish up here." He told her with a smile as she nodded. She smiled as he turned his back to her to make the pastry. Lizzie found herself sat on the sofa, turning on another show called Bad Education.
"I love this show." Y/N said as he sat beside her. Placing two fresh drinks down on the table. "This is one that does actually show how some schools used to be when I was in school."
"Really?" Lizzie asked him.
"Yeah." He said. "Well public schools anyway."
"Did you go to a public school?" She asked him.
"I did." He told her. "I met Tom there before he went to a private school."
"You guys kept in touch?" She asked him.
"We did. We knew each other since Nursery." He told her. "He is like a brother to me."
"What about your parents?" She asked him noting how he tensed."I think dinner is ready." He told her as he stood up.
"I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." She apologised as he gave her a gentle smile.
"It's ok." He reassured her. "It's just something I like to avoid talking about." She watched as he left the room. Taking her cup with him.
She felt bad for making him uncomfortable in his own home. Especially when he has only been kind to her.AN
