The opponent team, NYC Girls Football Team, pumped their fists in delight. Their team required the goal. The score presently was 2-2, a tie. The referee awarded the NYC Team a free kick. One immaculate kick and the Cup would be theirs.
The team captain of the NYC Team was more than anticipatory. She prepared hard for the National Cup. This was it. She buckled up for it.
"Siera! Siera! Siera!" the crowd intonated. The enormous placards and posters made blood rush through her veins. If it weren't for her perseverance and her ineptitude to hyperventilate, she might have fainted on the field. She glimpsed at the referee. He had lifted his arm at a ninety-degree angle, signalling a direct free kick.
The ball was placed 25 metres away from the goalpost. You got this! There were four SC players within a five-metre radius. It would be too risky to manoeuvre a kick from there. There was only one alternative left: top right of the net. Jogging her course to the ball, she took the fitting stance applying pressure on her left leg and swinging her right leg fiercely, connecting her leg to the centre of the ball and striking it above the opposing players, constructing an arc. It all transpired in a fraction of a wink. The goalie hurled herself in the path of the ball but she was too delinquent. The ball had slammed into the net. NYC Team had triumphed with a score of 3-2.
Vociferations of cheer exploded from the stands. All of Siera's teammates lunged on her to embrace the fabulous striker. They had won the National Championship again. The fifth successive time in a row.
