PS: Smut ahead : )
"STAY BACK!" he yelled, throwing himself on me. We ended up on the other side of the cave as everything collapsed; every entrance was blocked.
"I told you it's never fun to mess with the Gods. Fucking General." I said, realizing what just happened. I panicked but at the same time, it wasn't as bad as it used to be. After all, it was part of my job.
"We lost them, haven't we? Soap and Ghost?" he said, worryingly, looking for a way out.
"I don't know." I threw the notebook away and rested my head between my palms, feeling how hot my cheeks were. It wasn't the getting stuck in a cave that ached me mentally. It was the guns. The fucking shootings.
"Fuck" he murmured, under his breath, looking for a way out. There was a way out. There always is.
Konig seemed anxious and I tried to reason with him to bare with me for a while, and just leave the guns out of it.
"Do you know what are we gonna do, now?"
"I don't know what we're gonna do, Linda. It's up to you."
"And why's that? You trust me that much?"
"Because you know I only get orders from you during such missions- we all do. Except for" he paused then said "Ghost." He annoyingly said.
"Ghost is nothing to me," I said back. "Now, please don't shoot. I beg you. And there is a way out of here, trust me. There is always a way out. If there isn't, I am sure Soap would notice and get inside, yeah?"
He ignored every word I said and just miraculously asked "Is there anything going around between you and Ghost, Linda?"
I couldn't answer and just looked away focusing on getting us out of there safely.
"Forgive me. That was rude of me," he added, "I'll give you some space and go check the place."
"No," the word just escaped my lips and it made me realize that I needed his presence next to me.
"Huh? Do you want me to stay?"
I nodded, agreeing.
"Are you scared, Linda?"
I shook my head till the thunder stroke, and I covered my ears, blocking the sound.
"Are you okay? It's just thunder, Linda. Don't be scared." He softly said and smiled under the mask. And no I wasn't scared, there was just this dilemma of emotions filling me. I felt safe, a bit scared yes, but every time he said my name, I felt weak in my knees. I let out a laugh, hiding my face in total embarrassment.
"Oh, you're not scared anymore?"
"Just a little bit. Everything is spooky here?"
He walked closer towards me, slow yet steady steps, and put his rifle aside.
"Do you think I'm spooky?" he softly said.
"In a good way, yeah." I laughed again, just realizing how silly he probably viewed me.
"In a good way? How's that, huh?"
"It's just that I feel safe with you, so even if a freaking Aztec deity rises now, I wouldn't be scared, although I should be."
"What else do you think of me?"
"I also think you're a-" I paused and thought to myself: a hulk of a man and most noticeably hung, "a hard mystery to solve, yet a good person."
"Mh-mhm" he agreed, and then there were just long pauses of silence and constant staring, "Sorry, I just zoned out for a bit," he said, shaking his head.
