"What time shall I pick you up tomorrow?" Simon said as we walked to my tent.
"Don't know," I shrugged, "I guess we have to wait for Captain Soap's clarifications."
"I am in charge now," he said, cockily... just like always.
It felt right to talk to him, and we didn't despise each other for once. There were long pauses of silence as we looked at each other - him and his staring problem - and I, too, couldn't get a hold of me. It was wrong to get consumed again by the emotions but the saudade was getting to me; all the good times and intimate moments we shared before it got ugly.
"I should go find Konig," it suddenly hit me.
He nodded, agreeing, "Are you gonna tell him?"
"No," I shook my head, swallowing the guilt, "not now, at least."
He agreed and whispered goodnight. His scent lingered in my throat as he walked past me to his tent.
My heart dropped to my knees when I found Konig inside the tent waiting for me. He didn't look happy to see me. When I greeted him, he didn't say anything back but asked me where I was. Lying wasn't going to do me any good, and for once I wanted things to go as they were supposed to.
"I was with Ghost," I said, taking a seat in front of him.
He scoffed, irritated and annoyed, "You didn't even bother to lie?"
"Why would I lie to you, Konig?"
"And what were you doing with Ghost?" he leaned in forward, his looks predicting no good.
"Konig, I really wanna sleep. I have a big day tomorrow."
"To spend it with Ghost again and leave me out here looking for you everywhere?" I could tell he was getting angry, "Speak. Why were you with him?" His tone was sharp and curt as if he didn't care what my answer was.
"I have a new site to dig tomorrow. A much bigger project. And you would know all of this if you attended the meeting earlier. I was looking for you-"
"Don't mess with me, Linda." He barked, gripping your wrist. His gloved fingers tightened, and his palm was sweaty, "Tell. Me. What. Were. You. Doing. With. Him." His sharp voice was deafened and I could bet they heard it out the base.
"We just talked. We just fucking talked." I slightly yelled back, consumed by rage but also guilt.
"No, you didn't. Is that why your lips are swollen?" he stood up, my wrist still in his hand, and guided me to the mirror, "You think I'm stupid to not notice?"
"Let go of me," I yelped as he forced me to look at myself in the mirror, leaving traces of his fingers on my face. He grabbed me so hard and it ached me, "Please let go and just leave."
Another harsh snarl escaped his lips, the sound echoing through the room. "Did you like it? Do you want him instead of me?" His voice was sharp and bitter, his words almost cutting like knives.
"I don't wanna talk about this. Not tonight."
He forced me to face him and quickly his gloved hand was now around my neck, as tight as ever. His height towered over my own and he was breathing hard, his chest heaving in breaths as he stared down at me. Not a second word added, he left and it wasn't his height that towered over me anymore but the unbearable feeling of guilt.
The next morning, I was the first to head down to base. I might have been the only one awake
"Rough night?" Ghost asked as we headed to the jeep.
"He didn't take it well."
His grin was triumphant and he looked happy just to hear those words coming out of my mouth. Shaking his head, he opened the car door for me.
"Cut that shit out, Simon."
"What?" pretending to be confused as usual.
"This is wrong ."
"Oh, come on," he said as he drove off, as fast as he could, "You belonged to me first, remember?"
"I should have been honest with him from the beginning," I said.
He turned back to me and raised an eyebrow, his face breaking out into a subtle grin. I couldn't tell if he was joking or not, but his gaze stayed locked on mine, studying every expression and emotion that crossed my face, "put yourself first for once, Linda."
When we pulled over next to the site, he stared out of the window for a brief moment then turned to me, quickly leaning in.
"This is a serious mission. We should focus." I said as his lips were just a few inches away from mine.
"Right. Yes, of course." He cleared his throat and pulled away, his face turning stony once more.
I had to force my mind to realize that there should never be any room for emotion in the military. Every decision had to be calculated and weighed by pros and cons. All that mattered was the mission... or at least I thought so.
He looked over at me and nodded, his gaze fixed on the site up the hill. As we walked up, there were traces of digging everywhere. They had removed every landmine except the ones surrounding the site. We were granted access by one of the guards that belonged to our team.
"Are you claustrauphobic?" I asked as I placed my gear in front of the temple on the floor.
He shrugged and helped me get ready, "Me? Not at all. It's you that's stuck in here. You're stuck with me, so you'll just have to get used to it." he said, tucking my hair behind my ears and then offering to braid it.
"God, you're so corny," There was a moment of total relief I felt then; when he did so. He then squeezed my hips with his large hand, getting enthusiastic for a second before making it inside the cave.
"Due to my research, we'll have to deal with dense grounds."
"Does that mean being so pressed up against each other?" his hands traveled to my thighs, making sure the harnesses were tightly fixed. He didn't hesitate one second to caress my inner thighs, down on my knees, looking up at me, his eyes saying what words can't express.
"Focus," I gasped, "We can't do this."
He smiled, and moved his hands higher up, "Is this a problem for you, love?"
He slowly unbuttoned my shorts and pulled them down, gasping at the sight. It only took a nod from me for him to taste me.
"No one will see us here. This is private, just us." He smirked and leaned in to kiss my inner thighs softly, then slowly moved his mouth further.
"We're gonna get caught," I moaned and rested my back on the wall, allowing him to completely consume me.
It didn't take him longer till Soap's voice snapped me on the speaker.
"You there yet?" he said.
"Y-yes, Captain." my heart sank to the floor. It was wrong to give in to the temptation, but it just feels so right. Wrong, wrong, wrong yet feels so perfect.
"You fucker. I should've come alone," I said as I fixed the harness back on my thighs.
He couldn't help but grin at me, lick his fingers, and his lip, "Lead the way, Lieutenant."
