Enid's POV

We woke up the next morning completely snuggled up to each other spooning and her hair was still down and dried wavy. I was big spoon.

Her back was warm but her arms were cold because they were hanging out of the blankets. She was sound asleep with her mouth slightly open, blowing a strand of hair out of her face with every exhale.

I reached over to try and move the blanket over her arms but she flipped over and wrapped her arms around me instead.

"Ok ok we have to get up so we can go to work" I laughed. She told me to 'shut up and let her sleep.'

"I guess you're not a morning person" I grumbled and looked at the alarm clock on my bedside table. 9:03. "Well our shift started an hour ago" I said hoping it would make her wake up.

She lazily lifted her arm and said "wooo free day" and dropped her arm against me again. My stomach rumbled but she was so precious and I didn't want to take her off of me.

"Alright, work with me here" I said scooping her up under her arms and sitting up. Her head was on my shoulder and she was still holding onto me.

I scooted us onto the edge of the bed and stood up supporting her weight with her legs slung over my arms.

"Ok there's no way you're still asleep" I said as I walked us over to the couch in the living room and laid her there. I ran back to the room and grabbed her some fuzzy shorts like I was wearing and a green t-shirt.

When I can back to the living room I saw that Wednesday was peaking an eye at me and shut it tight when she saw that I was looking.

"Alright here are your clothes" I threw them on her face and she made a mumph noise in frustration then proceeded to fake snore.

"I know you're not asleep because all last night you didn't snore at all." I walked over and heard a small laugh then quiet again.

I started to put the shorts on for her and dressed her in the shirt. "Ok thank you" she said and stood up walking over to the kitchen. "So what's for breakfast?"

"You can't just do that! You made me carry you and dress you!" I stomped over to her, she was now sitting on the counter and giving me a smirk.

"I don't know what you're talking about" she slyly said. As soon as I reached her I tilted my head as if I was about to kiss her.

"You have morning breath, go brush your teeth" I told her as she pushed me away and laughed. "Like you're any better."

We got ready and brushed our teeth, ate some breakfast, and I gave her some clothes to wear because hers were still wet.

She frowned seeing the baby pink shirt and jeans. "Hey it's either that or you wear your cold wet clothes." She stayed silent and got dressed.

We decided to take a walk around town and planned to stop at some shops, which ended up only being one. "This is where they sell really old vintage things" I said as she stopped and stared into the window.

She took my hand and swept me into the shop looking around excitedly. There were a lot of lamps and mirrors, bent silver dishes, anything you could name was here.

Including my ex girlfriend.

Wednesday's POV

It felt nice to go outside with Enid and have that tension between us lifted. I've never had a girlfriend before but I think she is someone I'd want to be with.

"Enid look!" I pointed at a brass wolf about the length of my hand, with its body slightly swayed and it's head hung low with a front paw lifted off the ground.

It looked like it was on the prowl and I laughed a little. "It's you, get it? Cuz you're a werewolf? And it's a wolf?"

I picked it up and saw the price tag which didn't bother me because my birthday was coming up and I knew my parents would send an amount of money that seemed like a donation to a homeless shelter.

Meaning a lot of money.

I tugged on her sleeve and said "I'm gonna get this" and she looked at me smiling. "Your joke is funny but I'm not THAT cool of a wolf. Hey I'm gonna go look around ok?"

I nodded and held the brass wolf against my chest and slowly browsed other aisles. I should've tried to apply here but I'm happy I met Enid at that boring grocery store.

Enid's POV

"Hey chick" I heard her voice ring as she stopped in front of me in the jewelry section. "Hi Avery."

She called me chick because when we were dating I was too 'chicken' to kiss her first and very nervous and shy in bed.

"So I see you stayed in town" I grumbled as she took a step closer. Her hair was a dark auburn and her eyes were a hazel brown, her eyes were one of the things I used to like most about her, definitely not her manipulation which I only found out after dating her. "Cmon you're not gonna use my nickname back?"

"No. Why'd you wave at me to come over to you? Is your dad dying or something? Otherwise I don't really have the time to talk." She was silent and looked at me sadly.

"He actually died in a car accident a few months ago. I thought about giving you an invitation to his funeral but decided against it." I saw the genuine grief in her eyes and she tried to keep herself together.

"I-I'm so sorry I was joking I didn't think.. fuck Avery I'm sorry to hear about that." It did hurt to know he was dead, I had been with his daughter for 4 years, but he was very important to her and I felt awful for making a horrible joke.

"Thanks Enid. Maybe we can talk about it and catch up a little bit over lunch some day? Nothing like a date, I promise."

I took a step away and saw Wednesday happily browsing the store. "I don't know Ave. I'll think about it but right now I'm kind of busy with someone."

She turned to see who I was looking at it and pursed her lips and lifted her head up for slow nod. "Ah I see... She's beautiful by the way, happy for you" she quickly turned and walked behind the register before she could say anything else.

Wednesday was already waiting at the counter with the wolf and I noticed that she was only different around me and her normal Wednesday self with everyone else.

Which meant she was death staring my ex without knowing it was my ex. Avery lifted her eyes to look at me thinking I said something to Wednesday but I looked away while she purchased her item and came back to me with her bag.

I held her hand and leaned into her, walking out of the store and as soon as we reached a place to sit she gave me a big smile and I knew I had to tell her.

"Hey so erm.. that was my ex behind the register." Her smile dropped and her face looked slightly hurt. "Oh, ok. Im sorry" she said.

"You didn't do anything wrong I just wanted to let you know. She wants to have lunch and talk about her dad who just died but I don't know if I want to."

I could tell she was trying to figure out how to best answer. "If you do go I won't be mad I promise but I will be a little cautious. I will drive you to her if you decide you want to."

She held my hand again and we started to walk home with a little less glee but still enjoying each other's company.
