"Why what's wrong?"

"We were hoping maybe you could tell us?" The captain shrugged.

You had no idea. You hadn't seen the doctor at all this week - it had been a busy few days for everyone.

"We thought maybe you could talk to him..." Kirk suggested "Find out what's wrong."

"Why haven't any of you tried talking to him?" You raised an eyebrow.

"We have." Jim admitted "But-uh. I don't exactly have a way with words, and Spock isn't really the type to confide in."

"You do seem to be the only person on the ship tha' can make tha' grumpy doctor smile, lass." Scotty piped up. "Some thing need a woman's touch."

You nodded, concerned for your long time friend. Stepping into the lift and off of the bridge, you make your way down to the medbay.

As you entered, you saw him, hunched over his desk. He had a pen in his hand, and papers in front of him, but such a blank expression on his face that it was obvious he was daydreaming rather than working.

From what Jim and the others had told you, Leonard hadn't been Leonard all week - he was just, different.

He had no witty comebacks, or snarky remarks. There was no grouchy, playful arguments between him and his fellow crew.

Instead there was just this hollow exterior, a sad and troubled man hiding inside, and even from this distance you could see what they had been talking about.

"Leonard." You spoke softly as you tiptoed over to him "Whats wrong?"

"Hm?" He looked up at you, leaving the daydream of his thoughts.

"You haven't been right all week Leo." You continued "We're all worried about you."

He took in what you said for a moment, giving a pained smiled and sighing a laugh.

"Im fine, Y/N. You don't need to worry about me, any of you." He explained, wheeling over on his chair to the other side of the room, filing his papers away.

"Oh no, you don't get away it that easily Leonard Mccoy."

"Im fine, honestly." He held up his hands in defeat "Everyone had bad days Y/N, let's just drop it."

He upped and walked past you briskly, leaving you in a state of wonder and confusion at the entrance to the medbay.

Travelling down the halls to his room, he heard you trailing behind him.

"Leonard Mccoy, get back here right now."

He ignored your calls and walked straight into his quarters - you chased after him only to have the door close on your face.
