Chapter [4/4]: Declare Your Love

In the shivering cold night, the Palace Of Alcazarzaray stood tall with its gentle lights illuminating the smooth stone pathways. Kaveh gripped the paper note in his hand as he trotted past the entrance arch in search for the rogue roommate. To say he wasn't tired at all was a complete lie. The road to the Palace was an incredibly exhausting one, but the chance to admire the beautiful scenery surrounding the building made it worthwhile.

Light shone on a figure with familiar gray hair and pose was pacing in front of the fountain, his finger traced the contents of a scrunched up paper he had been holding. His expression told Kaveh that he was... troubled? Strange. Why was Alhaitham reading a damn piece of paper when he was the one who asked him to come here? Was this all a joke? Was both he and the idiot led on a wild goose chase by some mysterious person? Why was he acting like this? Kaveh would soon find out by forcing Alhaitham to give him those answers whether he likes it or not. Kaveh crossed his arms and with a small feeling of reluctance, went to confront the man who was acting suspiciously.

Alhaitham, perhaps noticing the sound of movement, pocketed the paper. His gaze was now on the blond man approaching him. He sighed. It was a horrible decision to let Cyno plan this. He should have have knocked him unconscious with the book instead of handing it over.

"If this doesn't go well, I'm going to tear that jackal headdress apart and stab his clothing," Alhaitham thought, fingers digging into his palm. Agitation filled his actions- which was unnatural as he preferred to depend on pure logic and reasoning alone, never emotions. It was foreign, yet invited.

"Ugh, what do you want again? And stop placing flowers everywhere! Use that damn Haravatat brain of yours! I've..." Alhaitham scoffed at his roommate. It wasn't his fault that Kaveh was dense. And none of this could've happened if it weren't for Cyno, that intolerable talking mosquito.

" Forget it. The sooner he rejects me, the faster I'll be able to get over this childish act," said his mind. But something still tugged on the idea of hope, that Kaveh might accept, that Kaveh liked him as well. That was all futile wishing, Alhaitham knew that. However, was there ever harm in hoping?

"...Hey! Are you even listening?!"

"No."

"Argh, you-! That's it. I'm leaving. Nothing you say interests me at all anyways!"

Kaveh turned his heels before stepping away from him until his wrist was caught by Alhaitham. He groaned in frustration and faced the tall gray rock he got stuck with in his life.

"Kaveh." The man's stern gaze lingered on Kaveh's face as though calculating of what he should do next- which was highly likely.

"What n-"

Alhaitham reached for Kaveh's face, his hands cupped the soft red cheeks, and  lips met with the architect's. Kaveh's eyelids fluttered shut, he replied to the kiss with his own. His arms flew just below the back of Alhaitham's waist, bringing him closer to the taller one's chest. They never knew how much time has passed. The heartbeats, the face of longing, the breath of the other was their sole focus in a nation once ruled with ignorance.

...

"Didn't even knew you liked me!"

"And how did you reach such a conclusion?"

"You wrote me a letter that told me to get out of the school during our Akademiya days."

"Ah. It was probably because I didn't know how to deal with a crush and wanted it to go away."

"Fuck you, Alhaitham!"

"I don't think people would like seeing us doing sexual intercourse in the middle of the streets, Kaveh."

"I hate you!"

Ah, how should he respond to that? Right, Alhaitham nearly forgot. Chapter 4, Page 169, "And finally, declare your love by saying-

"I love you too."
