The next morning Emile spent looking me over, I felt bad when he passed my vision. He now bore all manner of bandages. Some of them hid scratches and some hid bruises from the time I apparently threw him against some furniture.

I was rather surprised he was up and wandering around. His hands shook when he was near me, clearly some form of fear that he couldn't control. Or maybe his hands were injured and he just didn't tell me.

I hadn't been my usual self today, every time I looked at him I wanted to cry. I had never felt this way before, but I had also never done something like that before.

"Is something wrong with you? You haven't said a word all morning" he demanded. "I'm sorry," I said quietly. I felt immensely guilty about the situation. He hadn't even cleaned the living room up, the evidence was still all over the room.

"I will be fine I promise you that, and the living room is replaceable. Why did your first thought go to me killing you?" He stared at me with such intensity it felt like he could see into my very soul.

"The prophecy stated that the brother kills the beast, so I figured we could just get it over with"

He grabbed my face and held me close to his, "I will not let some prophecy dictate how I deal with this situation got it?" He was so close I could feel his heartbeat, and smell the dried blood.

"Mhmm"

He released my face and hugged me instead, "I don't think I could live with myself if I had to do that" I could now hear his heart, his fear wasn't directed toward me anymore. I could tell he wasn't afraid of me, he was afraid of losing me.

When thinking of the best outcome it hadn't occurred to me what he would do after.

"That was also incredibly uncomfortable to watch, I don't think I wanna watch you turn again," he said shaking his head.

He pulled away from me and held out his laptop, "also you were wrong, there is a set of brothers like us who did cure it. They did it a few days before I was born on a full moon night"

Once more he impresses me.

"We should go and find them," he said as I stood up from the table. "But I think it would be best if we brought a few others with us. Who do you trust the most?"

"My only friend is Kayne"

Emile stared at me, "that is so sad, but also I have no friends either" he said scrunching his face, "maybe we could bring that girl you like"

"Diane can never know," I said grabbing his shoulders, "Diane will never know"

"Too bad, we need more help"

He has a point, "but I don't know where she lives or if she's even working right now. Never gained the courage to ask her for her number either"

"I can probably send someone to find her, Kayne is easy I have his number," he said with a smirk.

I hate that he even spoke to Kayne but im also glad he did. I wouldn't have had this opportunity if he hadn't.

Emile pulled his phone out and called Kayne, I couldn't find my own phone. I probably broke it when I transformed last night or something.

"Kayne! Hi yes, I need your help do you know my address?" He paused listening to Kayne, "mhmm, I can send someone to pick you up if you'd like. I don't think Rem would like it if I let you walk the whole way"

Rem, when did he start calling me that? And why did I not notice sooner? He always called me by my first name.

Emile hung up the phone and summoned a few butlers, since when did he have more than one? He commanded them around and left us with only the one he had to begin with.

While his butler didn't tend to speak he looked at me with fear in his eyes. I hadn't realized that others would find me terrifying or that I would ever see the fear in someone's eyes as a human. The scent was wonderful as a beast but horrid as a human.

"It's rather bizarre, you appear to carry a few of the beast's traits when you return to human form. You have a small tail and lots of hair on you. Your eyes are even a different color" he said picking up one of the family photos from off the wall.

He pointed to me in the photo, "see, you used to have green eyes but now they are almost black"

"I don't tend to look at myself much so I guess I never noticed," I said looking into the mirror resting on the wall. I had never given myself a real good look in a long time, he was right though.

My fingers were pointier, and my skin was more pinkish on the underside of my arms. I ran my fingers along my face and realized he was in fact very correct, I was covered in more hair than I probably should be. Most of it was incredibly pale and people wouldn't see it.

My hair was a mess, it amazed me that Emile hadn't commented on it in a while. And I appeared to be more muscular than I should be. I usually kept my hair long because haircuts were just a hassle, but I only now realized I had some white streaks and lighter pieces in my hair. My normally dark hair looked lighter than usual.

Emile set the photo back onto the wall and headed into the kitchen. After a while of simply hanging out in the kitchen the front door opened. "Hello? Rem?" It was Diane, he really did get her.

I rushed out to meet her, "hi Diane," I said awkwardly smiling at her.

"I didn't know you lived in a mansion," she said looking around. The servant Emile sent out brought luggage in.

"I actually don't, it's my brother's mansion. Technically our parents' mansion" I said, I had never seen her outside of her workplace.

She had long dark hair with red and purple streaks in it, I had never seen it down before. She wore a regular t-shirt and pants as any normal person would. I felt overdressed thanks to my brother and his shopping trip.

"They made me pack some things, do you know why?"

"We are going on a mission to cure Rem" Emile stated entering the room and the conversation.

Diane gasped, "are you sick? Are you dying? Is that why they asked me to pack some things?" She started asking a million questions.

"No, I'm not exactly sick. I don't know if you'll believe me but I am cursed. Or at least Emile thinks I am. If you just stay till later you will know the truth"

"Cursed? Goodness. That is bad" she said, "why am I here?"

"We need more help with the search for the cure, we can't do it by ourselves" Emile explained.

"Tell me all about it right now," Diane said taking my hands into hers. She sounded determined and ready to do anything for me. She felt warm.

"If you insist," I said somewhat wishing she wasn't here, "Every night I transform into a beast, one that I sometimes cannot control. Apparently, there is a prophecy about it, Emile is to kill me. But Emile wants to cure me instead so we are going to try and find the previous iterations of this curse" I explained. Her hands were much smaller than mine.

Her pale brown eyes stared into mine as she took in this information. "Got it, so that beast I keep hearing about is you?" She asked I simply nodded. She didn't seem phased by this information like it was perfectly normal for someone to be like this.

After a while, Kayne showed up. He too had luggage with him. He seemed excited to be there, I was glad to have my friend with me.
