34.

"Claude?" For some apparent reason, tears were clouding my eyes.

My brother was walking towards us, his head held low, "I guess he told you everything."

"No, not everything. I still don't understand, what did Aiden mean? Claude tell me!" I sounded a bit hysterical as I glanced from Aiden to my brother. I thought I will find peace, the moment I learn the truth, but instead, I've been plagued by more questions, and now here's another layer to the story. This time my brother is involved.

Claude looked at me and guilt was evident in his eyes. He handed me the envelope and I held it in my shaking hands. It was like fire, trying to burn my fingers. I didn't want to hold it.

"That's from your accident. I thought you might want to read that before I explain the rest of the story," he said as I slowly opened the envelope, revealing a newspaper.

"Highschool Sweethearts Critical after Motorcycle Accident" the headline read. I glared at Claude, "what is the meaning of this?"

My heart was thumping loud. Here was actual concrete evidence, that the accident Aiden was talking about was real. I don't know if I wanted to read on. I don't know if I actually wanted to know more about this.

"Love, I told you my side of the story, but maybe you should read what the media has to say," Aiden said, gesturing to the paper I was holding.

"Asia I'm so sorry, I don't know what you'll think of me after this, but you deserve the truth and it's time we give it to you," Claude said. He sounded nervous, but why would he be? I should be the one to feel that way.

I wiped the tears away from my eyes, but I didn't notice they were already falling on the newspaper I was holding, forming blotches on the words and the picture that showed a broken and smoking motorcycle beside a tree.

"A tree? I thought we encountered a drunk driver," I muttered to both of the boys inside the room with me. I was getting more and more confused than ever.

"Just read A, and you'll know why everyone blamed me," Aiden said, a small yet forced smile made his way towards his lips.
