I was slowly starting to lose my mind. It's been half an hour since I spoke to Richy and he hasn't shown any sign of life since. Meanwhile, the group chat was inundated with all sorts of questions for me. However, at that moment the only reasonable solution seemed to be to call Alan.

-Hello Alan? What's going on there?
-There was a fire in the mine and we had to call the fire brigade, but we managed to get Richy out in time.
-Haven't you found anyone else?
-I'm sorry Polly, but no.

Suddenly my world stopped and I dropped my phone on the floor.
"This can't be true." I felt tears springing into my eyes. I was about to collapse, but a voice from the phone woke me up.

-Hello, Polly? What happened?- Alan was repeating.
-Nothing, everything's fine.- I lied because I didn't want to complain to him.
-If you say so, I'll keep you updated.- After these words, he hung up.

In an instant, I clicked on Jake's chat and started texting him, because I still couldn't believe it.

- Please, Jake, tell me you're okay and that you escaped from the mine in time
-This can't be true
-Please go online

More tears rolled down my cheek, but the hacker was still offline. I was wholly devastated. I felt like my last weeks of work had been wasted and didn't make any sense. My grieving was interrupted by the ringing of the phone. I was hoping it was him, but I was wrong. The group chat was still inundated with messages, so I decided not to delay any longer.

*half-hour later*

I explained all the circumstances and events to them, then the group fell silent. I assumed that some of them just couldn't believe it and others basically just went offline.
