Chapter 7 - Monarch vs Hydra

After being briefed on their future mission to Antarctica with Gipsy Danger, the Parr family had been sent by Serizawa to the equipment section of the base, telling them that someone they knew was waiting to give them the equipment needed for the mission. Thanks to the authorization indicated on the pass given by the director of Monarch, the family of superheroes were allowed through the security airlock and the guards to enter a large room lit by neon lights. Inside, they found themselves in the presence of several Monarch agents busy checking the equipment arranged by size, function and class, but above all, one person in particular turned to greet them.

A short, big-headed woman with semi-long black hair and large round glasses over her eyes. She was dressed in a very chic way, clashing completely with the rest of the agents dressed more militarily. Sitting on a seat, smoking a cigarette, she gave a mischievous smile to the family of superheroes who were immediately surprised to see and recognize her.

_"E...Edna?" said Mr. Incredible.

_"Darling! Finally you're here, you've taken the time." replied Edna.

Edna Mode. The world-renowned superhero costume designer. Former criminal mastermind repented after being stopped years ago by Mr. Incredible with whom she ends up becoming friends, even if at the beginning, Bob had become especially friends with Edna to be able to keep an eye on her and to ensure that she did not fall back into crime, but over the years and in front of the good faith of Edna to have abandon her malicious activities, Bob had his guard down. After years in prison, she had decided to put her genius to the service of justice and made a fortune designing costumes for superheroes.

She rose from her seat and came to see the Parrs.

_"Uh... hi Edna." Dash and Violet said in unison.

_"But... what are you doing here?" Elastigirl asked still in surprise. "I thought you were on a trip to attend a fashion show in Paris."

_"Ah the fashion shows, again and again, it's always the same thing, deadly boring..." Edna breathed wearily. "It was the perfect excuse for me to leave without arousing suspicion. As you can see, I was contacted by Monarch. My exceptional work on superhero costumes did not fail to attract their attention. And since I was bored, I decided to accept."

_"I never imagined someone like you agreeing to work with an organization like Monarch." said Bob frankly.

_"And why not, darling?" Edna said. "I needed stimulation, new challenges for my constantly boiling creative genius. And in a way, Monarch works to keep the world stable, so it's not that different from you, the superheroes. But oh well, details, details, it's all blah blah blah... Let's get to the point, come with me."

Still true to herself, the family thought as they followed her to another adjoining room in which there was a test room that Edna had specially set up, having had all her very sophisticated equipment brought with her which she normally kept at home but which was essential to her in the design of her creations. After entering the security code and retinal scanner needed to open the armored security lock and stop the defensive turrets from firing, Edna ushered the Incredibles family into the side room. Behind a large, thick, bulletproof bay window were new superhero outfits, gray, red and black in color, branded with the family's I logo and looking reinforced. One of Monarch's agents arrived at Edna.

_"Ah Madam Mode. We have just adjusted the latest changes to the polar outfits. We can start the test."

_ "Perfect. So, let's not waste any more time." Edna replied, inviting the Parr family to come forward in front of the bay window behind which was the testing room. "Considering the place you will go is one of the coldest places on the planet, your new outfits have been adapted to withstand the lowest temperatures."
