Jax's POV:
With Tara and the boys splashing around in the pool of the rented condo, it gave me some time to think about how different my life is. Walking away from SAMCRO had been easier that I had originally thought that it would be. I don't know if it was because I knew that walking away from the last thing I had of my fathers was the only way that my family would survive or if I knew that it was time, but either way, the past few weeks have been some of the best of my life. Waking up with Tara and our boys, away from danger and no one looking to harm us has been exactly what I needed. Knowing that Karli was safe just made things even better.
But even with all of that, it would be a damn lie if I said that I didn't miss being in the club. Not because of the shit that always seemed to circle it but because of the brotherhood of it all. More than a few of those guys has watched me grow up, had watched me become a man in more ways that one. In a way, they were life a surrogate father to me so not having them around was definitely taking some getting used to. I missed the jokes that he guys told while working in the shop. I missed the times hanging around the bar at the club house after a meeting or after work. I missed the sage advice that Bobby and Chibs always seemed to have when it came to whatever I was dealing with in life. More times that I could count, those two had been the ones to make me see the path I needed to take so to say it was odd to not have that anymore was an understatement.
As if there was some sort of galactic connection between me and the club, my phone began to vibrate on the coffee table. Since only a handful of people had the number, I knew that it was going to someone that I knew and trusted. Picking up the device, I glanced at the screen, seeing Chibs's name on the display.
"What's up man?" I said, swiping the screen and placing the phone to my ear before relaxing back into the cushions of the couch with my feet propped on the wooden table.
"Jackie Boy," Chibs started. From his tone, I could tell whatever his next words were going to be were good. My body tensed, waiting for what he had to say, as I sat up. "I got some bad news."
"How bad?"
"Bad enough that you need to get the fuck out of Orlando." Said Chibs. In the background, I could hear the wheels of the presidents chair in squeak.
"What the hell do you mean?" I asked.
"Long story short, we finally pinpointed Clay and his minions location but when we got there, all we found was a note with some photos of you, Tara, and the kids in Orlando. The photo had all of your faces marked out in red and the note said that by the time we found this, you all would be dead."
White-hot rage had me standing from the couch. Rage flowed through my veins. I wanted to hit something. I wanted to rage against anything within my reach. Who did Clay and his fucking minions think they were threatening my fucking family? Did they truly have a fucking death wish? Because there was one fucking thing for sure, I may not be a patch holding SON anymore, but if I got my hands on them, I was going to rid the goddamn world of the scum that they are in true SONS fashion.
Knowing that I needed to keep as calm as possible, I forced myself to keep the rage inside. "How did they even find us? Only you. Bobby, Tig, Happy, Phil, and Miles knew where we disappeared to." I said.
"That's the fucking problem. None of those guys said a damn word but somehow, Clay found out." Said Chibs.
"Means you have a goddamn mole." I seethed as I walked to the sliding door that led out to the pool area. The smile that had been on Tara's face instantly disappeared when she saw me. Waving a hand, silently telling her to come in, she nodded her head and began to gather Thomas and Abel.
