So please just give me something for the pain
'Cause my heart softens to your name
And when you're gone I come undone
___
"Rick? Rick you with me?" Daryl waves his hand in front of Ricks face. He's sitting on the concrete, zoned out.
Hershel looks at Maggie. "Let me see the baby."
She walks over to him.
Beth looks at the others. "Do we have anything to feed her?"
Daryl shakes his head.
"The good news is, she's healthy. But she needs formula, or she won't survive." Hershel says.
"No way. Not her. We ain't losing anyone else. I'm going on a run." Daryl says tossing his crossbow over his shoulder.
Glenn nods. "I'll back you up."
Rosanna stands shakily. "I'll go too."
Maggie hands the baby to Beth. "Count me in."
Daryl nods. He turns to Beth. "Hey. Kid just lost his mom. His dad ain't doing too hot." He says referring to Carl who stands silently.
Beth nods. "I'll keep an eye on him."
He points at Archer. "Get the fence. Too many pile up and we'll have a problem."
He turns back to the three who volunteered. "Let's go."
They follow him to one of the cars, trying to figure out where to go.
"There's a Piggly Wiggly on 85." Glenn offers.
Rosanna shakes her head. "Baby section's been cleared."
They look at her with confusion.
"Lori asked me to keep an eye out. Haven't had much luck."
Daryl sighs. "Is there any place that hasn't been completely looted?"
Maggie thinks. "We saw signs for a shopping center just north of here."
A pounding headache is taking over Rosanna's brain. "Yeah, but there's too much debris on the road. We can't get a car through that."
Daryl points at his bike. "I can take one of you."
"I'll go."
Glenn gently grabs her arm. "No, Rose. After everything you've been through..."
"I want to go. For Lori. I have to."
Glenn sighs and nods. "Okay. Be safe. I love you."
She nods, hugging him weakly. "I will. I love you too."
She climbs on the back of Daryl's motorcycle. Her sword is safely on her back. Her headache is painful, but she knows that she has to do this. For Lori. For the baby.
She holds on tight as Daryl drives out the gate and down the debris filled roads.
___
They arrive at the department store and Daryl knocks on the window. There's no noise inside so they enter.
They split up to search the store. Rosanna turns down one of the back aisles and stops in her tracks.
There's a woman walker laying face up on the ground. Her jaw snaps slowly as she catches sight of Rose.
She can do nothing but stare as the walker tries to move. She can't because her guts are hanging out and dried brown blood surrounds her.
