Mando and Cara had left early morning, most likely surveying the area in order to help the people with their raiders. I sat quietly finishing the soup Omera had brought me. Grogu played outside, once again, as I watched him through the window in our room. I had no intention of making friends nor having 'fun'.
My mind was set. The power I had felt yesterday was something unexplainable, impossible even. I craved it, I wanted to feel it again and again and again until I felt helpless no more. My jaw clenched.
However, after my previous display of power, it was like I felt empty. I tried to feel it again. Do what I had done once more, but I was empty, drained. I felt exhausted. It made me angry. How could I ever learn to protect myself if lifting up pebbles drained me? I had to become stronger.
A knock at the door startled me out of my thoughts. Omera stood next to the open door, her hand falling by her side as she gave me a small smile. "Hi." She greeted kindly. I nodded to her in greeting. "May I come in?"
This was odd. I've never had someone be so kind, so respectful to me before. I was never treated like...like a person. I frowned at the thought and I noticed her smile fell. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to bother you. I just want-" I cut her off quickly. My ears burned with embarrassment.
"No. I-It's not you. I was just thinking about something." I shake off. She nodded slowly, I could see the concern on her features perfectly. I almost wanted to tell her to leave, that her presence brought painful memories and a sense of lingering jealousy.
She brought back her soft smile, stepping inside a bit, but I noticed she gave me my space, keeping a distance. "I noticed your attire when you arrived." Immediately, my cheeks burned. The embarrassment and the deep disgust I felt about myself hitting me like a wave, it left my stomach churning.
"I wanted to provide you some clothing and-" she paused, finding her words. "-I don't mean to come off rude, but I wanted to show you the bathes we have. You could freshen up, change your clothing. I don't know if you've been able to do that with the Mandalorian on your ship."
She didn't come off rude. If anything, I was grateful she noticed my attire, grateful I didn't have to come forth about my filth. My dirty and used body is something I never want to discuss with another.
I gave a small nod. "I would like that." She smiled widely, hands clasping in front of her chest as she gave me a happy nod. "I could braid your hair. My daughter says I'm the best at it." She chuckled to herself.
I stared at her, my gaze softening at her joy. The way her eyes lit and the small blush that tinged the tips of her ears when she spoke of her daughter complimenting her was something my heart lurched at. The care, the admiration of someone not even here.
My thoughts went back to the other day. When her daughter appeared and Mando held up his blaster. The way she swiftly, but quietly appeared next to her daughter, a glint in her eye when she eyed his hand movement.
