-Your POV-Opening the large, metal doors that lead to the deck, I'm met by a warm rush of air fanning my face.Sighing, my lips curl into a smile; the feeling of a breeze had almost become foreign to me, having been living in a sub for the past four days.
Tucking my lightly flailing hair behind my ear, I walk out onto the large expanse of wood. It still being slightly damp, having surfaced only a half hour ago.
My clothes crease and crinkle in the wind, the breeze gently whipping past my skin and kissing it tentatively; relieving the heat that had began welling up during my stay on this yellow vessel.
Law had said he would be right up, he just had to attend to some work first.
Squinting against the large, golden orb of light in the sky, I walk towards the railing of the vessel. Folding my arms, and leaning them on it. The water laps against the sub gently, however, all my eyes see is the ocean; reaching up it's hands, and clawing at the ship.
~Flashback~
My young hands clawed at the oak-wood door. Desperate in my attempt to brake into the room, I shove my shoulder against the barrier, whimpering a popping noise strikes my ears, my shoulder being ravaged by a horrible pain.
Clutching at the dislocated limb, I cry out,
"Okaa-San!!"
The room falls silent, the previous whimpers and screams that had been stalking my mind, vanishing.
A high creaking noise grabs my attention, and the locked door, opens slowly. My eyes flit up, instantly locking with my father's. A soft smile tweaks his lips; an occurrence that only ever happens when he has and/ or is doing something bad....
Crouching to my level, he ruffles my hair.
"It's ok, little (Name)-Chan. Okaa-San is fine, just in a little bit of pain. You know how it is."
He says softly. My eyes wander from his shirtless form, to the naked woman bound on the bed. Tears well in my eyes. Shaking my head, I stagger backwards; my balance being ripped from me by gravity, and I crash to the floor. Still clutching my shoulder.
"You....You're lying!"
My father scowls, rising back to his average height.
"You're hurting her! Making her do things she doesn't wanna-"
"(NAME), RUN! GET OUT OF HERE!"
I hear my mother scream. My eyes widen, and without a second thought, I'm running. I want to turn back, free my mom, but I can't. Yells from my father and screams from my mother resound within my head as I run. Far... Far away from here.
~Present~
The memory flows freely through my mind, and, unlike last time, I allow it freedom. Not holding back, or choking it off. I do as Dragon had told me to, and let the memory go. And I'm surprised at myself as a shaky sigh is my only response to such haunting images.
"Okaa-San...I pray you're alive..."
I whisper to myself, remembering my father's violent tendencies. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath, holding it in for a moment, before releasing it. My head begins to feel clear, my eyes casting up to the ocean once again.
However, in the distance, I'm met by a faint black dot. It looks like it's approaching, and I feel concern begin to swell within me.
Quickly rushing back inside, slamming the metal doors shut, I bound down the hallways. Bolting into Law's room, to find him sitting at his desk. His eyes flit to my form, his eyebrow raising.
"Ne, what is it (Name)-ya?"
"Something is approaching. I think it's a ship, but I don't know."
His eyes widen a fraction, before he gets up and leads me from the room. Quickly finding Penguin, he tells him to grab a telescope, and to head to deck. The three of us, along with Bepo, quickly rush outside.
Leaning on the railing, Penguin raises the spying object to his eye, pointing it in the direction of the approaching vessel.
"Teichou, it is a ship. But it hasn't got the Marine flag, nor a jolly rodger!"
The hatted boy declares, handing Law the telescope. Raising it to his eye, Law frowns.
"I don't recognize it..."
I snatch the object from his hand, lifting it to my face, and squeezing my left eye shut as my right peaks through the magnifying object. Skanning my eyes over the sail and flag, a familiar bow catches my attention. And I feel my heart flutter in my chest, eyes begining to water.
"(Name)-ya, who is it? What's wrong?"
My bottom lip quivers as I lower the telescope, a smile stretching the wobbling flesh.
"I-It's the revolutionaries."
I whisper, a choked sob crawling past my throat. His eyes widen again, his gaze drifting to watch the vessel become bigger as it approaches, still a good distance away.
"I need to let 'em know I'm here!"
I declare, shooting Law a hopeful glance. Smiling softly, he nods, and I giggle happily. Quickly turning back to the railing, I lean on it, jaw falling slack as a long, soft note falls into the air. I can remember the day Sabo made me promise him this.
"In any event in which we are separated, call on me using your power, ok?"
The same note we had rehearsed all those years ago, moves through the air. And I hope with all my heart, that he can hear it.
~Sabo's POV~
Koala was running around the navigation room, yelling about how she had spotted an odd, yellow vessel bobbing on the water.
Sighing, I remove my hat and run a hand through my hair, waiting as Koala vents out her excitement. At times, I really have no clue what goes through her head. All I know is she's barking mad. But she is my best friend.
A few minutes later, and a soft melody rings throughout the ship, rendering the entire thing silent.
A pang of recognition strikes my brain, but I can't recall exactly where I've heard that sound. It was beautiful. Actually, it sounded like exactly that of a siren.
A siren...
Wait...
My eyes widen as I bolt from the room, weaving through the corridors, ignoring the calls of my peers.
Quickly reaching deck, I leap onto the bow, gaining my balance as I can just make out the distant form of a (h/c) girl. I feel my heart hammer against my ribs, joy washing over me like a tidal wave. Cupping my gloved hands to my mouth, I dig deep into my lungs for all the air I can muster, forcing and impressive amount of power into my voice. One word tumbles past my lips.
"(NAME)!!!"
