stranger on the street

After school, Jimin walked alone on the street, a bag slumped on his back while his feet dragged in the city of Seoul.

Of course he knew that the lie couldn't go forever, but he didn't expect himself being caught so fast. He had been so careless with it, it was bound to happen.

He was so deep into trying to find a solution to stay in the friend group that he didn't even bother to consider the fact that they had called him pathetic.

He had never felt so weak. Not when his friends in elementary school ghosted him for his birthday party, not when he wasn't invited for a hangout to the mall, not even when his middle school friends made fun of him for being a little overweight.

Hoseok and Taehyung were people with no filter on their mouth. They spoke whatever they wanted, however they wanted. They weren't good friends to Jimin but at least they cared a little about him.

They always called him to a few friendly dates. They always invited him to hangout with them. Though they did badmouth him, they were his only decent friends, ever.  Except them and Jin, he had no one at all.

Maybe Jimin was naive, and stupid. He definitely was. But, really he cared nothing about it. All he wanted was to stay friends with Taehyung and Hoseok so he wouldn't be left out in school.

So he wouldn't be a loner without a social life who'd get targeted for bullying. So he wouldn't be sitting alone at the lunch table while everyone else sat with their friends.

He had dug his own grave and knew nothing that could really help him. He couldn't get a boyfriend all of a sudden. He wasn't attractive. He had never even found any other boy attractive. He knew he was into boys but the type of boy he had in his mind was unrealistic.

And it's not like you could rent the perfect dream boyfriend how you could rent dvds from a store.

Jimin scoffed as he walked past two older looking girls who were whispering and pointing at something ahead of them.

"Isn't that guy so good looking? Oh my god he looks so good my ovaries wanna get fertilised." The two gushed about some man.

Jimin rolled his eyes at that, hiking his bag higher on his shoulders, but curiosity got him. He wanted to know how hot this supposed guy was, so he decided to follow where the girls were pointing.

A little away from them, he saw a man standing at the traffic signal. And this man was easily the prettiest man Jimin had ever seen.

Seriously. This guy. He stood out. Tall and lean but muscular. Piercings and tattoos. He was out of the world, Jimin felt his heart beat out of his chest.

"Wow. I want a boyfriend like that. We have to tell our friends." Jimin heard the two girls say but honestly he was too struck by the man's beauty to even think about anything else.

He too wanted a boyfriend like that.

Suddenly the idea struck his head like lightning. This was his very own eureka moment.

He could make this person his boyfriend. Ofcourse not in real life. He was way, way above Jimin's league. But he could use him to save his friend group.

All he needed was a picture. That and all his problems would be solved.

Jimin smiled to himself as he got his phone from his uniform pants and opened the camera app.

He knew it was called stalking and that it was illegal but right now nothing mattered more than his reputation. So he approached slowly, trying not to get any attention on him as he tried to snap a perfect picture without the man noticing him.

carefully jimin. you got this. just don't get any attention on yourself and you're good. you can do it.

A click sounded the air.

"Did you just take a picture?" Jimin shrieked as he took a couple steps back, realizing he had got all up in the strangers personal space for that picture.

He was so into getting the perfect picture that he didn't realize how close he got to the man.

He did the first thing that came to his mind, "LOOK THERE'S A BTS MEMBER!" He screamed pointing to the other direction, causing the stranger to look into the direction.

As soon as the stranger looked away, Jimin made a run for his life, afraid that the man would chase after him and beat him up for stalking.

"There's no one there." The man whispered but Jimin was long gone.

It was only when he reached home that Jimin stopped, looking behind to see if the man had chased behind him.

He let a deep sigh of relief to see that he was in fact not being followed by the handsome stranger who he probably would never see again.

His leg muscles were sore from the run but really he wasn't even concerned about it as he opened his gallery to look at the precious photo.

It was the perfect photo. The man had looked right into the camera, a curious look on his face. It looked perfect.  Absolutely. This was the picture that could fool his friends for a little longer.

It's not like he would run into him again. He looked like a college student and his friends knowing him was next to impossible.

He sighed, finally being able to see that his social life was still not over. He got this. It was only one year. One year till he was out of high school and into college.

One year in the awful school, he could keep the lie. He knew that. Just a little longer. In college, life would be different. He could meet people with his own interests. He could make good friends, maybe even a boyfriend.

A real boyfriend was not on his mind for now. All he wanted was for the lie to go on till the end of the year.
