i promise

you noticed me whispering
to my friend today,
you also noticed i wasn't talking
to you the same,
you asked me what the matter was
'nothing', i said
(i can't get over your smile)
you just wouldn't let it go,
so
i made up my mind to tell you
(i think i like you)
but before that
i made u promise this won't ruin
what we have right now,
and you wrote it down
in my book saying,
"i promise I won't stop talking to you"
i sighed,
the words were right there
in the back of my throat
but i could not bring myself
to tell you.
