Riley drove home from work after a long day. She had been on her feet non-stop, working in the ICU for several hours. All she wanted to do was get home and collapse, but she knew she had things to do around the house.

The roads were quiet, Riley planning to get home by nine o'clock. It was late but that was just how it was to work - she'd be getting home even later if they still lived in Washington.

Stiles and Riley had moved away from Washington not long after they both graduated. Stiles had been chosen to join a select program where he would be working in Intelligence - Riley wasn't allowed to know much more than that.

Once they knew that they could afford it and Riley had a job in the hospital, they made the move. It was a bit of a change but they made it work.

After their time apart in the aftermath of the Nogitsune and the Anuk-ite, they had barely been away from each other for longer than a workday. Riley regretted that period of time in their life but she knew that it was what they needed at that moment. What she needed. It made her realise just how much he meant to her and how much she needed him in her life always.

As she drove, Riley caught a glimpse of her wedding ring, the diamond set in silver glinting as the street lights flashed by, her hands upon the steering wheel. She smiled as she looked at it, eager to see her husband when he got home.

It was always so strange to think that; her husband. She'd fallen in love with her best friend and was lucky enough that he felt the same way. Now, they got to spend the rest of their lives together.

Riley became Riley Winters-Stilinski eight years ago after a five-year engagement. They hadn't been in a rush to make it official, knowing that neither of them was going anywhere again. But when they finally did, it was one of the best days of the woman's life. Everything about it has been perfect.

Both of their families had been there as well as their friends and family. Of course, they held it in Beacon Hills, getting permission to have the ceremony at the preserve. They'd made so many of their most precious memories there - including Stiles choosing to propose to her at the lookout. The location had just made sense.

Stiles had looked handsome in a tux handed down to him from his father and Riley had worn a white gown her sisters had helped her select. She also wore jewellery that her mother had owned, wanting to have her close on their special day.

Riley had nearly ruined her makeup with how much she had cried at the altar. Happy tears, of course. Stiles's vows had been beautiful. She knew how much he loved her but hearing him put it into words in front of everyone else they loved was an experience. Riley had made hers just as meaningful, making it clear to him that there would never be anyone she loved as much as him.
