Not wanting to bring Aayla out into the woods, Riley and Stiles got in the car and went to see Stiles's dad to see if he would babysit. Unfortunately, the man was still working, so they went to the next best place that they could think of.
"How do you think Scott's handling all of this?" Stiles asked as they pulled into the driveway of their destination.
Riley got out of the car and went to the backseat to retrieve their daughter. "As well as he can. We need to finish it, though, or he'll never forgive himself."
Stiles walked beside his wife on their way to the front door, smiling at her, "Don't worry, I'm sure everything will go to plan."
The couple reached the house, Stiles knocking. It took a moment but finally, the door opened, revealing the frowning face of one Sour Wolf.
"Hey, cousin," Riley grinned.
Derek's frown turned upright when he saw the three, stepping out to wrap his arms around Riley and Aayla.
"Riley, it's so good to see you. How have you been? How's Boston?""Tiring but amazing," she laughed as she pulled back. "We're happy."
"I'm glad," he told her sincerely. He then held a hand out to the girl's husband, "Stiles."
"Derek," the man responded, shaking his hand.
"Please, come in, all of you," Derek said, stepping aside so that they could walk into his home.
Riley and Stiles had been there plenty of times before. It was a lovely little one-storey home towards the outskirts of Beacon Hills. Riley had been surprised when Derek said he was moving back to the town.
It all made sense when she met Eli. Derek wanted to be the best parent he could be, and he was only able to see himself doing that where he had grown up.
"Where's Eli?" Riley asked as she went into the living room, putting Aayla down.
The man sighed heavily, pointing down the hall, "In his room. We kinda got into it a bit before you guys got here."
"Hey, man, that happens. I used to fight with my dad all the time," Stiles said, trying to make Derek feel a bit better.
Pursing her lips, Riley laughed a little, "Did he steal the Jeep again?"
The werewolf nodded, "I don't know why. That piece of shit barely runs."
"Hey! No one talks about Roscoe that way," Stiles snapped.
Derek rolled his eyes, pointing down to Aayla, "Make the most of her being this age. The teenage years have hit me like a truck."
"Lucky you can heal, then," Riley smiled. "C'mon, I wanna see Eli, so go and make up already."
