Noren and Aveline saw Star's melancholy face and immediately knew something was wrong. Star wasn't a sad girl by any means, and when she was, that means there was either hell to pay or someone was dead. 

"Is this a 'you're going to kill yourself' moment or a 'you kill someone else' moment?" Noren asked as he settled down next to her. 

"Ah, even when I'm sad you can make me smile, Noren."

"Oh, this is a sappy moment. The worst kind," Noren offered his shoulder to Star and she took it gratefully. 

"What's up, Star?" Aveline asked quietly. 

"I have something to tell you guys," Star mumbled.

Noren sighed. "What is it?"

"It's bad, guys."

"We can handle it, Star. We always have and can," Aveline reassured her. 

"My dreams."

"What about them?" Noren asked, rubbing his hand over her shoulder. 

"They aren't just dreams," She exhaled softly. "I know it sounds crazy but the things I'm about to tell you are going to sound even crazier. From what I've figured out from the few dreams and discussions I've had I'm a--ew I hate saying this because it makes me sound like I'm trying to be quirky--but, I'm a siren. Like the singy-people who live in the ocean and bite sailors' heads off for lunch. And dinner. And breakfast."

"Woah, what?" Noren asked. Aveline's jaw was on the floor. 

"Okay, I'm not a great teacher. Or a good explainer at anything. I- you have to believe that I'm not crazy. I went to Dumbledore and he knew what I was! He knew this would happen. Obviously, you two know that Idiot Dad and Smart Dad aren't related to me, and apparently, my mom, is a siren, of course. And, the woman I've been seeing in my dreams is my aunt, her sister. She says that my transformation will happen on my 16th birthday and I'm so scared guys. I-I don't know what I'm going to do. Aglaope didn't exactly relay the information in a nice way. She said as soon as I get into that water and change, I become not... myself. Like, eat people for food, not me. Like the cannibal version of me." Star's eyes started to water and soon the tears came out similar to a river rushing. She muffled her sobs, as she was in the library but couldn't conceal them as well as she wished, and soon her cries couldn't be muffled. 

"Star, shh, shh. It'll be okay. We get it figured out, we always do. And, trust me, if anyone was going to go all cannibal on us, it would be Ave, not you. Or me for that matter," Noren chuckled, taking a stab at lightening the dark mood. 

"Um, I'm choosing to ignore Noren's statement and focus on you, Star. But he is right, not about the cannibal thing, but that it will all be okay. In the meantime, is there anything you want to do to take your mind off anything?"

"I would like to get drunk and stumble around the forest. Far, far away from the Black Lake."

"Then stumbling around the forest and taking bad photos it is!" Noren grabbed Star's hand and pulled her toward the door, Aveline following shortly after.
