Big House.
Unknown Location, Armillary Sphere...
The more she read, the more she trembled with fury at her own stupidity.
If she managed to un-fuck up everything, and un-fuck herself, then she would gladly be grounded for the next eternity or two, and never complain again. She would never let her mom out of her sight, and she would never complain again about her annoying brothers, or anything! Odin help her, she was so out of her league.
It did not take a genius to know why this artifact was the most sought after artifact, no, the more she read, the more she trembled with fury and terror at her father's notes, and her mother's notes. They had constructed this world on blind faith of a spell that would have killed them all, she couldn't...
The comprehension of that concept had her trembling. Her father's personal notes were filled with self doubt, crossed out fears, stresses, his handwriting was wild, manic even, switching between runic, English, French, German, Norwegian, Icelandic, Swedish, and Finnish, even Danish; it had been an all consuming task to try to understand her father's thoughts. Her mother's notes were neater, the effortless cursive though did not hide her mother's own apprehensions about the spell. Nor did it hide this... Kaleb's.
Kaleb Westphall, druid, husband to a Bennett and Parker, her father had utilized Kaleb's magic, and his magical lines as a legacy key to opening the Armillary Sphere. Her father had hidden the key within the maternal bloodlines; Bennetts were reported to be a rather secular powerful lineage, Qetsiyah, Bonnie, other names she did not recognize were listed. But though the blood of the maternal line would conceal the key, given that Bennetts were entangled with almost every major and powerful spell; e.g. the Hunters Curse, Silas Immortality, Qetsiyah's Other Side Spell, Anchoring Amara, protecting doppelgänger lines, creating and locking Prison Worlds, stabilizing spells; her father had not bound the key to the maternal power or line. Rather utilizing the maternal line to protect the key, which would be granted through the paternal line of magic, specifically the druid.
If the Armillary Sphere was unlocked, the worlds could collide, and then the supernatural; her world, would crash into Midgard with the force of a wrecking ball. Her father theorized a conjunction of sorts would happen, and given the vast mortal populations of the 'modern era' it was likely for the supernatural to 'feed and overpower' the known Midgard.
A terrifying idea; humans, mortals.
She shuddered at the thought.
Mortals, man, her species, they weren't like the supernatural, they weren't like everything she knew, and it was not the violence or the capacity for violence which set mortals apart. No, it was the lengths mortals, man, her species were willing to go; the relentless tenacity which set them apart from everything in this world.
If deities and fae could... wield that, then they too would have the relentless, never ceasing tenacity, and they would destroy everything.
The tears burned as she slammed the book shut and set it atop her mountain.
Thor have mercy, what a fool she'd been. She'd played right into those false deities' hands! Loki take pity upon her stupidity; she should've known better... gripping her hair as she bowed her head she shivered violently. What had she done?
If this Armillary Sphere was in the hands of them then not only would this world be lost, but Midgard itself would be shatter.
Groaning she slid forward, her head slamming down on her folded arms, her elbow hit the Armillary Sphere, causing it to roll to the ground.
She was such a fucking fool!
